摘要:
AbstractThis paper proposes a numerical technique, called turnpike improvement, for the approximation of the solution of a class of piecewise deterministic control problems typically associated with manufacturing flow control models. This algorithm exploits the structure of Markov decision processes with continuous state and action spaces that can be associated with piecewise deterministic control systems. The numerical method is applicable whenever a turnpike property holds for some associated infinite horizon deterministic control problem. To illustrate the approach, we use a simple model fully studied from an analytic point of view in the literature. We compare the turnpike improvement technique with a direct approximation of the solution of the continuous‐time Hamilton‐Jacobi dynamic programming equations inspired by Kushner's work. The two approaches agree remarkably on this simple problem. We conclude with a discussion of the relative advantages of the two approac

摘要:
AbstractThe non‐linear beam with bounded deflection is considered as an optimal control problem with bounded state variables. The theory of necessary optimality conditions leads to boundary value problems with jump conditions which are solved by multiple‐shooting techniques. A branching analysis is performed which exhibits the different solution structures. In particular, the second bifurcation point is determined numerically. The bifurcation diagram reveals a hysteresis‐like behaviour and explains the jumping to a different state at this bifurcation

摘要:
AbstractIn this paper, two new algorithms to synthesize robust controllers which tolerate large parameter variations in the system are presented. The new analytical procedure that has led to the establishment of these algorithms can be easily used to solve similar perturbational problems when small‐sensitivity measures are used. These algorithms are applied to a numerical example to show the system performance under these design methodologies and to compare the final outcomes of these algorithm

摘要:
AbstractFor systems such as jacketed vessels with significant dead time, cooling jacket dynamics and unpredictable but measurable load disturbances, advanced control concepts need to be used in order to achieve quality regulatory control. In the current work, optimal regulatory control theory has been applied to this problem. An optimal control algorithm is used to effectively control a batch fermentation reactor. The algorithm is easily implementable and very effective. It is capable of responding to both measurable and unmeasurable process disturbances.

摘要:
AbstractIn this communication we consider conditions for stability and identifiability of parameters in initial value problems governed by systems of ordinary differential equations that are obtained as Galerkin approximations of parabolic initial boundary value problems. Of particular interest are problems in which multiple inputs are allowed to obtain multiple outputs. These input—output relations are used to obtain the desired identifiability result
