摘要:
SummaryWe divided the endogeneous depression into two groups: Pure depression and cyclothymic depression. We observed two groups from the viewpoint of the psychosis of the family. The pure depression, which had only pure depression in the family. showed monopolar and simple symptoms. In comparison with it the cyclothymic cleprcssion, which had manic‐depressiv psychosis or cycloid psychosis (Leonhard) in the family. showed hipolar or reactive unstability in the symptoms. If a violent anxiety or stupor was observed in depressive state, we must consider the relation to the cycloid psychosis. This article is dedicated to Prof. Murakami in his honour of the tenth anniversary of the opening of his lecture at Kyoto University School of Medicine respectfull

摘要:
SummaryPsychopathological states are said to be rooted in frustrated personality development through distorted childhood experiences, which is psychoanalytically designated as fixation. I assume that the nature of the fixation is essentially psychophysiological, and thus a purely psychological maneuver such as psychotherapy alone is not effective in some cases. An integrative approach on the basis of psychophysiological standpoint, however, can easily induce therapeutic regression and assist the movement in treatment. According to this thesis, I instituted “Anaclitic Drug‐psychotherapy” by administrating high doses of Levomepromazine and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy as well as anaclitic nursing. Many of the patients who had not responded to various psycho‐ and drug‐therapies in the past were helped by this therapy, even though this did not happen in the same fashion. Those who had a high tolerance for Levomepromazine, which is a strong neuroleptic, did not respond so readily. This phenomenon also indicates the psychophysiological nature of

摘要:
SummaryAn autopsy case of chronic disseminated encephalomyelitis has been examined. The relevant history extended over a period of six years, and was characterized by recurrent exacerbations and remissions, primarily of the brain stem symptoms. The clinical picture resembled that of multiple sclerosis, but was accompanied by Behqet's syndrome during the later course of the illness. The differential diagnosis of this case has been discussed with special reference to the demyelinating diseases and the central nervous system complications of Behqet's syndrome.A man of 26 years of age experienced onset of his illness with intermittent twitchings of both legs, and four years later he developed double vision, dysarthria, nystagmus, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention, and disturbed gait. Mentally, he was euphoric with occasional pathological laughing and weeping. These symptoms and signs fluctuated frequently and were accompanied by intermittent high fever of unknown origin, purulent erythematous papules, and both labial and scrotal ulcers. Terminally, he became dyspneic and expired in a comatose state.Neuropathologically, the main lesions were confined to the brain stem, but were also widespread from the diencephalon to the spinal cord, and to the optic nerve. They corresponded well with the clinical picture mentioned above. Histologically there were poorly defined perivascular foci of demyelination, especially those in the white matter being confluentially disseminated. Perivenous spaces in the lesions were remarkably dilated and laden with numerous fat granule cells, and glial fibers proliferated in varying degrees. Except for certain circumscribed areas, inflammatory cell infiltrations in demyelinated foci of long‐standing were absent. Both nerve cells and neuroaxons in the foci, on the other hand, were comparatively well‐preserved. In the severely damaged ireas swelling and fragmentation of the axons were observed. In the spinal cord, the lateral pyramidal tracts showed a marked secondary degeneration bilaterally with corresponding gliosis. In Goll's tracts, symmetrical demyelination was found, which might indicate a systemic degenerative process. The above‐mentioned pathoanatomical findings suggest that the present case may belong to the category of demyelinating encephalomyelitides in a broad sense. The central nervous system involvement in the fatal cases of Behset's syndrome have not often been reported in the literature. To the best of our knowledge the present case demonstrates some unusual clinico‐pathological f

摘要:
SummaryThe EEGs during the repetition of thumb flexion responses at certain time intervals were investigated in seven pairs of monozygotic twins.Especially noteworthy was the enhancement of the basic alpha rhythm occurring antecedent to the coming stimulation, and this was clearly shown by registering the instantaneous analysis of alpha waves in each frequency. Its appearance was markedly similar in each pair of monozygotic twins. These results suggest there is a hereditary basis related to individual differences of conditional alpha activity. The significance of this phenomenon was discussed from a standpoint of active inhibition.Grateful acknowledgement is made to Prof. Eiji Inouye, for his constant interest and guidance in this investigation and revision of the manuscript.

摘要:
Summary1. We have examined the EEGs from 51 epileptics to see if there is any relationship between paroxysmal dysrhythmia and the theta wave of the background activity and found that there certainly exists an antagonistic relationship between the two.2. It has been ascertained that the theta wave of the background activity is closely associated with irritability and that the relationship between the theta wave and so‐called epileptic personality such as irritability is particularly noteworthy.3. It has also been found that the frequency of appearance of the theta wave does not depend on the duration of epilepsy in the patient.4. The foregoing results we have obtained have led to the conclusion that in epilepsy paroxysmal dysrhythmia stands in a homeostatic relation to the continuous theta wave of the background activity, and to a sort of psychic symptom such as irritability to be developed in the patient.5. The clinical trait of epileptic, such as irritability, is to be considered not as a trait of an epileptic personality but as psychic symptom of epileps

摘要:
SummaryReticular evoked potentials in response to stimulation of the dorsal rootlet (L5) in the cat were recorded under FlaxCdil. Successive sections were made on the spinal cord at the level of Th 13. The amplitude of the reticular response was reduced and the latency was prolonged after section of the dorsal funiculi. Subsequent hemisection of the cord resulted in further delay of the reticular response when the stimulus was. given to the side sectioned, but the latency remained unchanged on stimulation of the opposite side. Stimulation of the dorsal funiculus gave rise to a reticular response. The reticular response is therefore evoked by afferent volleys ascending three reticulopetal connections of the cord: 1) contralateral dorsal funiculus, 2) ipsilateral path of the lateral funiculus and 3) ventrolateral tract of the contralateral side.
