摘要:
Synthesis of digital filters by continued fractions is generally investigated. Several new canonic ladder realisations of a digital transfer function are presented, and the conditions for realisation are discussed. The new realisations are based on the applications of continued fraction expansions that proceed in terms ofAi+Bi2 andBjZ−1+Ajon an alternating basis. The resulting structures avoid the presence of delay-free loops and achieve a relatively small range of multiplier values. They are more versatile than the existing structures, allowing one to synthesise functions more readily. Furthermore, it will be shown that existing structures can be generated as special cases of the presented structures. Illustrative examples are provided.

摘要:
A strategy for adjusting a distributedRCactive lowpass filter to a specified frequency response is described. TheRCproduct of the distributed network is measured after fabrication, and appropriate values for the length and position of the trim cut and the gain of the amplifier are calculated for the design values of ω0andQ. A computer is used to perform the calculations, and the results may be used either as a design aid or in the deterministic trimming of filters.

摘要:
A digital correlator is designed and implemented using a special type of instantaneously companded delta-sigma modulation to encode one of the input signals, and a special type of ADC to encode the other. The multiplication process is greatly simplified using this technique, and it is found by computer simulation of the system that the output signal/noise ratio is more than 30 dB over a wide range of input level variation.

摘要:
A synthesis for switched-capacitor filters, implementing stray-insensitive biquads and based on follow-the-leader feedback topology, is presented. Design equations that directly relate the capacitances to the transfer function coefficients are derived.

摘要:
Tearing methods for large systems have been widely studied and applied over the last decade. Most of the applications used single-level partitioning of a system into subsystems. In the paper, tearing is applied to hierarchically described systems, where each subsystem is itself composed of subsystems, and so on to arbitrary depth. This structure gives rise naturally to ‘recursive’ bordered block diagonal (BBD) matrices, where each diagonal block is itself in the BBD form. Algorithms for LU decomposition and forward and back substitution of such matrices are described.
