摘要:
A detailed calculation using the general rate theory scheme has been done to model the effect of Ti addition on the swelling behaviour of 316 stainless steel. Results obtained are in good agreement with the reported behaviour of swelling under high voltage electron microscope (HVEM) irradiation conditions. Important features are the decrease in the influence of Ti on swelling above 0.05% Ti, increase in swelling with cold-work and decrease in the influence of Ti on suppressing swelling at high doses.

The diffuse scattering of X-rays from single crystals of Fe-40 at.% Al ordered alloy has been investigated after low temperature electron irradiation (20 K). The measurements were made after annealing the sample up to 77 K and 300 K near the (200), (220) and (222) Brag reflections in both directions parallel and perpendicular to the scattering vector. The measured Huang scattering intensity has been attributed to isolated interstitials at 77 K and to very small clusters (10 interstitials) at 300 K. Comparison of the experimental results with the different simple interstitial configurations proposed for bcc crystals suggests that the most probable configuration should he the (110) split interstitial with orthorhombic symmetry.

Using the channeling method, implanted deuterium in niobium has been found to occupy a displaced tetrahedral site, in contrast to the normal tetrahedral site occupancy of dissolved deuterium. The comparison of experimental angular scans with computer simulations indicates that deuterium is displaced by about 0.02 nm towards the octahedral site. Moreover, the deuterium lattice site occupancy is found to depend upon the relaxation direction of the host lattice. The results are interpreted by taking into account the uniaxial distortion of the lattice parameter (up to 2%) within the implanted layer, as measured by channeling experiments.

摘要:
Recent studies have indicated that ion beam annealing of amorphous crystalline interfaces occurs by an ion-beam-triggered but thermally-activated process near the interface. This observation is used to develop a simple model for the accumulation of amorphousness under direct impact amorphisation conditions with competing ion-beam-triggered and additional thermally-activated annealing processes relevant to heavy-ion implantation of semiconductors. The effects of variations of ion flux density, ion fluence and substrate temperature are explored.

Measurements of defect production rates during proton irradiations at 125 K have been used to probe the damage structure produced by protons or heavy ion irradiations. Electrical resistivity was used to monitor the probe damage rates. As the energy density of the displacement cascade increases, the probability of a probe interstitial annihilating with a vacancy within the cascade is reduced relative to its trapping at interstitial clusters. There is also a slight decrease in the average vacancy annihilation radius with increasing energy density in the cascades. During annealing, the relationship between annihilation and trapping probabilities remains constant throughout stage II, but in stage III, the annihilation probability decreases strongly. This annealing behavior was observed for all ion irradiations and is believed to be due to a reduction in the average vacancy annihilation radius associated with the formation of vacancy loops.
