摘要:
AbstractThe present paper is the results of the biosystematic studies ofCulex pipienscomplex in China, including hybridization, mathematical analyses of morphological characters and GC analyses of culticular hydrocarbons. On the bases of the results of these studies, in addition to their allopatric distribution, it can be concluded that Cx.pipienscomplex in China consists of four subspecies, includingCx. p ipiens molestusrecently discovered in Beijing.Cx. pipiens quinquefasciatuscan not be considered as a spearate species andCx. pipiens pallensis not an intermediate form as claimed by some western workers.

AbstractIn August 5–14, 1989 the authors collected many phlebotomine sandflies in natural lime‐stone caves from Yiwu and Mengyuan, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. Among them 10 species of phle‐botomines were found, i.e.,Idiophlebotomus longiforceps, Phlebotomus yunshpis, P. trunmcsis, P. kiangsuensis, P. stantoni, Serptomyia rudnicki, S. barraudi, S. iyngari, S. koloshanensis, andS. bailyi(He and Leng 1991). AbstractGross anatomy, ultrastructure, innervation and ultrastructural alterations of the prothoracic gland (PTG) of cotton bollworm,Helicover pa armigera(Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) are illustrated for the last larval and early pupal stages as observed by light and electron microscopy. The T‐shaped, paired (PTGs) consist each of 76–116 cells which are classified morphologically as large and small gland cells. In addition, another kind of small (about 6μ in diameter) gland cell was found in the PTGs of last instar larvae. The PTGs are innervated by the branches of 3 nerves! and tracheae and tracheoles are abundantly distributed to these glands. PTGs disappeared completely by the third day after ecdysis to the pupal stage (at temperature 28 C with a photoperiod L15:D9). An intercellular channel system (ICS) is formed by numerous, deep invaginations of the plasma membrane of gland cells. This ICS gradually increases in depth and width and reaches maximum development around the time of the major ecdysteroid secretion peak during the last larval instar.Numerous multivesicular sacs (MVS) with their remnants and an extensive rough endoplasmic reticulum were observed within ICS and cytoplasm, respectively, on the fourth day of the last larval instar. At that time the matrix of mitochondria became much more electron lucent.Freeze‐fracture replicas of the glandular epithelium were made from last instar (4th day larvae. 摘要:
AbstractCorpora allata are the defined site of juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis in reproductive adult insects and their activity is regulated by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. In the adult lady beetleCoccinella septempunctata, it has been well established that the development of ovaries is controlled by JH (Guan 1987). The present study aims at the elucidation of the influence of some factors regulating reproduction of the lady beetle. They include topical application of JH analogues, presence of neuropeptides in the extract from the brain, as well as the development of ovary and type of food on CA activity. JH synthesis in CA is monitored with radiochemical assay and immunoelectrophoresis.

AbstractToxicity of a neem seed kernel extract (AZAL‐S) was assessed under laboratory conditions against larvaeof Culex quinquefasciatus. The LC50value for AZAL‐S was 0.78× 10–6. Exposure of 4th instar larvae to 0. 3× 10–6 and 0. 5× 10–6 AZAL‐S for 120 hours caused 46. 2% and 67. 5% mortality respectively, with various types of morphogenetic aberration. AZAL‐S induced an obvious prologation of the larval period when 1st instar larvae were treated with 0. 4–1. 0× 10–6 AZAL‐S for 7 days.
