AbstractSolvolysis of Δ1,9‐10‐hydroxymethyl‐octaline benzenesulfonate (XIII) yields as the chief product [0,1,4,4]‐Δ1‐tricyclo‐undecene (XV), the structure of which was subsequently proven by chemical means. In a competing reaction involving molecular rearrangement some bicyclic compound XVI is also found. Similarly Δ12‐18, 28‐cyclo compounds have been isolated in the solvolysis of Δ13,18‐28‐mesylates or benzenesulfonates of the oleanane series, thus supporting the view that homoallylic ring closure is the major reaction occurring in the solvolysis of compounds which contain the Δ1,9‐10‐h

AbstractDue to increasing steric hindrance, the stability of the metal complexes of ethylenediamine‐bis‐acetylacetone (AeDAA) and the two stereoisomeric forms of 1,2‐diaminocyclohexane‐bis‐acetylacetone (DCAA) decreases in the following series: M(AeDAA)>M(cis‐DCAA)>M(trans‐DCAA). A CoII‐complex can only be prepared with AeDAA; NiIIand CuIIform complexes with AeDAA and cis‐DCAA but not with trans‐DCAA and of PdIIand PtIIcomplexes could be prepared with all three complexing agents. These facts agree with decreasing stability of the complexes in the metal‐series Pt, Pd>Cu>Ni>Co. The apparent stability constant of the complex Cu(AeDAA) has been evaluated. AbstractDie Samen von Erysimum crepidifolium Reichenb. lieferten nach Fermentierung ein Glykosidgemisch, in dem sich in Papierchromatogrammen (teilweise erst nach präparativer Anreicherung) 21Kedde‐positive Stoffe (A, B, C, D, F, G, H, I, J, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z) nachweisen liessen. Auf präparativem Wege konnten davon 8 Stoffe (B, C, D, F, G, H, I und J) in Kristallen sowie einer (Z) in amorpher aber papierchromatisch reiner Form isoliert werden. Ausserdem wurden in Spuren noch ein kristallisierter, aberKedde‐negativer Stoff (E) erhalten. Von den isolierten Stoffen wurde I in grösster Menge erhalten, und nur dieser konnte in seinem Bau aufgeklärt werden. Es handelt sich um ein Glykosid aus Strophanthidin undD‐Digitoxose. Derselbe Stoff kommt in noch grösserer Menge in den Samen von Erysimum helveticum (Jacquin) A.P.DC. vor und wurde daher Helveticosid genannt. Er ist möglicherweise identisch mit dem Erisimin vonFeofilaktow&Loschkarewund mit dem Alleosid A vonMaksiutina

AbstractAus den Blüten des Springkrautes wurde Taraxanthin C40H56O4in reinem Zustand isoliert und untersucht. Es erwies sich als ein Mono‐epoxyd, welches neben dem Epoxydsauerstoff noch drei Hydroxylgruppen enthält. Durch chlorwasserstoffhaltiges Chloroform wird es in das entsprechende furanoide Oxyd umgelagert, welchem die Bezeichnung Tarachrom gegeben wurde. Auch dieses kristallisiert gut. Durch Vergleich der Absorptionsspektren und anderer Eigenschaften konnte wahrscheinlich gemacht werden, dass die früher isolierten Trollixanthin‐Präparate, die sich durch ihre Schmelzpunkte wesentlich unterscheiden, eis‐trans‐isomere Formen sind. AbstractNew measurements of the depolarization ratios of theRamanlines of liquid trimethylene oxide and more accurate values of the rotational constants suggested a new assignment of the vibrational spectra of this molecule. A normal coordinate treatment has been carried out, showing good agreement with experimental data for the typical CH2‐group vibrations. For the strongly coupled ring vibrations much less satisfactory results were obtained from conventional values of force constants. The newly exposed assignment differs in several respects from previous work. For the low frequency non planar ring vibration ν24two values of frequency were discussed, but no definitive choice has been achieved.
