摘要:
The current status of experiments designed to detect neutrinos emitted by the sun is reviewed. The motivation of these experiments is to reveal new information about the intrinsic properties of neutrinos, for example, non‐zero neutrino mass and mixing. The observation of such nonzero intrinsic properties would be positive evidence of physics beyond the standard model of electroweak interactions.

摘要:
The physics of ultra‐relativistic heavy ions is presented, with particular emphasis on the basis concept used in interpreting the data and on the principal problems encountered in this new and rapidly evolving field. A number of selected results from experiments at CERN and BNL are reviewed and compared qualitatively with models based on hadronic scenarios as well as models including quark‐gluon plasma (QGP) formation. No unambiguous evidence for QGP formation has emerged from the data so far, but a number of large and significant effects have been observed which clearly show that nucleus‐nucleus collisions cannot be described as a straightforward superposition of independent nucleon‐nucleon reactions. Results from a number of different observables (pTdistributions, strangeness abundances,J/&psgr; suppression) indicate the existence of an extended and strongly interacting system. The first ‘‘exploratory’’phase of experimentation seems therefore to confirm that ultra‐relativistic heavy‐ion collisions are a promising tool to study the properties of bulk hadronic matter under extreme conditions.

摘要:
The nuclear dependence of charm and beauty production is reviewed. Particular emphasis is placed on the new high‐precision data from Fermilab experiment E772. These data are qualitatively compared with current theoretical models of nuclear dependent effects. The relevance of these results toJ/&psgr; suppression studies in relativistic heavy ion collisions is also discussed.

We survey the field of strange particle nuclear physics, starting with the spectroscopy of strangenessS=−1 &Lgr; hypernuclei, proceeding to an interpretation of recent data onS=−2 &Lgr;&Lgr; hypernuclear production and decay, and finishing with some speculations on the production of multi‐strange nuclear composites (hypernuclei or ‘‘strangelets’’) in relativistic heavy ion collisions.
