IN INDIVIDUALS suffering from occlusion of the central artery the residual vision is determined by the amount of retina supplied via the dliary circulation, which in most individuals is limited to the area surrounding the disk. How-ever, in approximately 14 to 21% of the population a cilioietinal artery is present that can supply the macula and afford good central vision.1Much more rarely, if the cilioretinal artery is occluded, macular vision may be reduced. While occlusions of the cilioretinal artery have been described, the following case is unusual in that the occlusion was probably secondary to an embolus in an individual having subacute bacterial endocarditis.

INFILTRATION OF THE PIUTARY GLAND and or the hypothalamus by neoplastic cells in multiple myeloma is unusual though scattered reports appeal in the literature, usually as an incidental postmortem finding1or associated with diabetes insipidus.2Other manifestations of pituitary insufficiency are uncommon. This report concerns a patient in whom panhypopituitarism was suspected antemortem. and whose life was prolonged by replacement therapy.
