摘要:
AbstractIn the comparison of various dose levels it can often be assumed that the parameters to be tested follow an order restriction. Two closed multiple test procedures for detecting the highest dose level still providing a shift in the response distribution as compared to the adjacent lower dose level is proposed. One is based on one sided comparisons between neighbouring doses, the other uses Helmert‐type contrast statistics. If a sequence of testing is fixed in advance the multiple test can be suitably modified. The power of the procedures is simulated under the assumption of normally distributed responses for various constellations of the dose means. It is compared with the power of a general Holm‐type procedure discussed in BUDDE&BAUER (19

摘要:
AbstractThe problem of testing the equality of several binomial population against an order restricted alternative and model selection for one‐dimensional multinomials is studied. Test procedures are proposed. The asymptotic distribution of the test statistics are obtained. Comparisons are made with other test statistics including the likelihood ratio test for stochastic ordering. Also alternatives which does not depend on the distribution of test statistic is propose

摘要:
AbstractA modified chi‐squared statistic Z is proposed for testing hypotheses about category occupancy rates for individuals distributed by clusters, when the cluster sizes are observed. This statistic is the Pearson chi‐square statistic based on the individuals' counts divided by 1 +M* whereM* is the mean number of other individuals per cluster per individual. The kind of alternative hypothesis for which the Z‐based test compares favourably in power with the Pearson chi‐square test based on the cluster frequencies is given. However, we prove that this latter test is more powerful than the former one as long as the equidistribution of the random choice vectors is

摘要:
AbstractA method for fitting piecewise exponential regression models to censored survival data is described. Stratification is performed recursively, using a combination of statistical tests and residual analysis. The splitting criterion employed in cross‐validation is the average squared error of the residuals. The bootstrap is employed to keep the probability of a type I error (the error of discovering two or more strata when there is only one) of the method close to a predetermined value. The proposed method can thus also serve as a formal goodness‐of‐fit test for the exponential regression model. Real and simulated data are used for illustr

摘要:
AbstractVector recursive residuals are developed for multivariate regression models on a field. A vector response variable is observed at points on a rectangular grid, together with regression variables measured at the same points. Neighbouring values of the response vector may be correlated and simple models are considered using a direct product structure for the variance matrix. Subsequent to obtaining vector recursive residuals principal component analysis is applied to obtain an evaluation of any changes that may be occurring in the regression relationship over the field. The method is then applied to the problem of detecting zones of bush fire damage and recovery from LANDSAT data.

摘要:
AbstractThe assumption of random year effect in the analysis of variety trials data over locations and years clearly contradicts the practice of conducting the trials over only a few consecutive years. A method of analysis of such trials which assumes that the year‐dependent effects are serially correlated is proposed in this paper to cater for the non‐randomness in the selection of years of the experiments. A simple autoregressive model was assumed for the serial relationship. A reduction in the variance estimate of the difference between two variety means was obtained using this met
