摘要:
A number of physico‐chemical and geophysical studies are reviewed suggesting the existence of an unknown physical factor in our environment of a possibly extraterrestrial nature. In order to study, more in detail, the nature of these physical forces, the effect of a metal screen on the sedimentation rate of human blood was analyzed at Leiden, The Netherlands (period 18/11/74–12/6/75) and the influence of different locations of test tubes on the B.S.R. levels at ground level, top floor and cellar of a building at the University Medical Centre at Leiden. The Netherlands (under the same temperature conditions). The result of this pilot study with 465 blood donors showed differences between tests carried out under and outside a copper screen and at different locations in a building.

摘要:
Long‐period (1948–1967) correlations have been statistically determined for the frequency of occurrence of solar flares associated with type IV radio bursts, negative variation of cosmic ray level, geomagnetic indices AP, lower ionospheric absorption, polar vortex activity in the circumpolar pressure field pattern and long‐term microseismic activity, expressed in statistical variations of amplitudes and periods of meteorological microseisms down to latitudes of about 35° N. All of the characteristics mentioned exhibit the same type of changes even in the time position of secondary maxima while only a rough similarity was observed with respect to the correlation of sunspot numbers and A= 10.7 cm solar radio flux. As a whole this represents a wide scale of interactions between the space‐solar phenomena and physical fields of the earth.

Deep body temperature (DBT) and heart rate (HR) circadian rhythms were determined by radiotelemetry in 4 mares kept under controlled light and temperature conditions. Ovulations were determined by rectal palpation of their ovaries. Mean DBT values ranged from 35.85 ± .04 to 37.22 ± .02°C The circadian range of oscillation was extremely low, approximately 0.5° C, with time of maximum temperature occurring midway through the dark period. Mean HR values ranged from 36.4 ± 1.7 to 53.0 ±3.6 beats per min. The circadian range of oscillation was also low, less than 15 beats per min with time of maximum HR occurring approximately at the time of lights off. The HR circacadian rhythm peaked before the DBT circadian rhythm by 3 to 8 hrs. Ovulation did not appear to consistently affect DBT and HR circadian rhythms or their phase relationships.

摘要:
An amplitude rhythm of 12 sec duration exhibiting a gradual decrease of amplitude per cycle was found and confirmed via autocorrelation inLimulus polphemus. This rhyth‐micity was nonexistent in the same animal 30 min later. Such an amplitude rhythm was not found inHadrurus arizonensis, although it was possible that a much longer cycle existed. The amplitude cycles and the heart beat were compared to Wever's (1965) pendulum and relaxation oscillation. It was proposed that the amplitude rhythm was predominantly dependent on the environment.

The day time periods of activity ofGazella dorcas dorcasL. in the Sudan are 06.00–10.00 and 14.00–18.00 hr in winter; 05.00–08.00 and 16.00–18.00 hr in summer when day temperatures may exceed 45° C. The main types of activity are described and observations made on periodicity in other types of behaviour viz: defaecation, chewing the cud, standing, lying, drinking, feeding, playing and courtship. These are all related to ambient temperature, time of day and season of year.
