摘要:
Five diabetic non‐obese males, non‐insulin dependent, and five healthy subjects were given three constant glucose loads (50 g per os) at the same intervals (08.00 hr; 16.00 hr; 00.00 hr). Blood glucose and plasma immunoreactive insulin (IRI) were measured before and 1 hr after the glucose loads. The test was repeated three days later, with varied glucose loads sequence: the 1st glucose load was given at 16.00 hr.

摘要:
Labor and management are considered basic elements in cyclic conflict. A model is developed assuming that their interactions arise solely from the sustenance needs of the elements. The “size”; and “state”; determining the condition of the elements are defined. Analysis of the interactive industrial forces yield the governing differential equations of the industrial system. The industrial system is assumed to be sufficiently large so that individual psychological effects are averaged out and may be neglected. The industrial change, industrial change rate, industrial energy, industrial power and industrial stress are defined.

One subject rated his mood daily for 1500 consecutive days. The resulting time series was analysed for significant cycles. Although the series exhibited a manifest and dominant 7‐day period, significant cycles of 2.4, 3.7, 5.5, 10.5, 18, 19.7, 28, and 57.8‐days were also found.

Correlations between a biological rhythm: activity cycles ofHadoenucus subter‐raneus,and a geophysical rhythm: areal strain change, show a remarkable consistency in three experiments with different populations of isolated insects over six months. Approximately 24‐hrs and approximately 12‐hrs periodicities are observed in both phenomena.

摘要:
A parthenogenetically reproducing Collembolan,Folsomia Candida,shows a cir‐caseptan (approximately 7‐day) oviposition pattern under conditions of continuous darkness at 25°C Growth was faster, size larger, and mortality lower for insects kept in continuous darkness, as compared to those on an alternating L/D12/12 lighting regimen. The circaseptan rhythm here documented for an invertebrate can be compared with rhythms of similar frequency in man and rat, although the as yet unknown underlying mechanisms are likely to differ.

摘要:
Activity rhythms of 3 species of day‐active sciurid rodents under various constant lighting conditions and in L/D schedules were studied. The animals included 8 white‐tailed antelope squirrelAmmospermophilus leucurus,5 black‐tailed antelope squirrelA. harrisi,and 5 eastern chipmunkTamias striatus.All species showed free‐running rhythms in constant conditions, with the period decreasing at higher intensities. The 3 species synchronized readily to a variety of light schedules, with the exact response dependent upon the phase relationship of activity to the new light schedule.

A description is given of a cabinet which has been developed to maintain groups of small animals in a controlled environment. Several such cabinets can be connected to a single extractor system, allowing different groups of animals to be simultaneously subjected to different lighting regimens. The apparatus has been found to be particularly useful in the study of circadian rhythms.
