摘要:
AbstractWe start with a stochastic flow of diffeomorphisms of the space. Particles enter the space at random times and places. Each particle is carried by the flow for some random amount of time. We examine the point process formed by the particles at a fixed time, on the evolution of that point process as time varies, and on the equilibrium law of the point process.

摘要:
AbstractDuring the past two decades, manufacturing systems have moved towards automation, integration and modularity. These trends will certainly continue in the future due to the constraints of the market and to evolution of resources and worker requirements. As a consequence, the design and use of manufacturing systems are increasingly expensive. Numerous methods and tools have been developed to face up to this situation, but some complementary aids could be provided for designers and manufacturing engineers. The goal of this paper is to present important open problems whose solutions could certainly significantly improve the design and use of modern production systems.

摘要:
AbstractStatisticians are accustomed to processing numerical, ordinal or nominal data. In many circumstances, such as socio‐economic, epidemiologic sample surveys and documentary data bases, this data is juxtaposed with textual data (for example, responses to open questions in surveys). This article presents a series of language‐independent procedures based upon applying multivariate techniques (such as correspondence analysis and clustering) to sets of generalized lexical profiles. The generalized lexical profile of a text is a vector whose components are the frequencies of each word (graphical form) or ‘repeated segment’ (sequence of words appearing with a significant frequency in the text). The processing of such large (and often sparse) vectors and matrices requires special algorithms. The main outputs are the following: (1) printouts of the characteristic words and characteristic responses for each category of respondent (these categories are generally derived from available nominal variables); (2) graphical displays of the proximities between words or segments and categories of respondents; (3) when analysing a combination of several texts: graphical displays of proximities between words or segments and each text, or between words or segments and groupings of texts. The systematic use of ‘repeated segments’ provides a valuable help in interpreting the results from a semantic po

摘要:
AbstractThe aim of this paper is to present the concepts underlying an approach to data analysis using a hierarchical classification. The data can be provided by observation, experiment or knowledge. We begin by presenting the classical view of the context of data representation, in which the algorithm of hierarchical ascendant construction of the classification tree is set. The main notion in our method is one of ‘similarity’. The latter must be elaborated in the best way, taking into account the mathematical nature of the objects to be compared. In this elaboration, we adopt a set theoretic and combinatoric representation of the descriptive attributes, which are interpreted in terms of relations. On the other hand, we introduce a probability scale for similarity measurement by using a likelihood conc

AbstractIn this review we consider the classical model for ruin probabilities describing the danger of an insurance portfolio. We give a description of the existing recursive methods for calculating ruin probabilities both with finite and infinite planning horizons.

摘要:
AbstractAlternative procedures for representing a stochastic signal as a denumerable series with uncorrelated terms are developed. The study includes considerations about parametric rescaling and its repercussions on the orthogonal expansion, as well as numerical techniques for approaching such an expansion. In addition, applications to the Gaussian characterization of stochastic signals, filtering and stochastic modelling are treated.

摘要:
AbstractRecent interest in Taguchi's methods have led to developments in joint analysis of the mean and dispersion from designed experiments. A commonly used method is the analysis of variance of the transformed data. However, a single transformation cannot necessarily produce the Normality, constancy of variance and linearity of systematic effects for the mean and dispersion models. We describe the use of generalized linear models for the analysis of such experiments and illustrate the methods with a data set.
