Shaly strata of theDidymograptus murchisoniZone at Killeröd, Skåne, southern Sweden, have yielded elements of the conodont speciesPygodus serrus(Hadding) andEoplacognathus reclinatus(Fåhraeus) which are characteristic of the Folkeslunda Limestone of late Lasnamägian age. These species provide the first conclusive evidence that at least part of the late Lasnamägian is coeval with theDidymograptus murchisonigraptolite Zone. The presence ofPygodus anserinusLamont and Lindström andPrioniodus prevariabilisFåhraeus throughout the “Bronni Beds” at Killeröd proves that this unit is older than has been believed previously and is equivalent to part of theGlyptograptus teretiusculusZone rather than to theNemagraptus gracilisZone. Other evidence for the correlation between the North Atlantic graptolite and conodont zonal successions is also reviewed.

Recent Rb-Sr data on the Haparanda plutonites, Northern Sweden, are discussed in relation to field evidence of post-intrusion microclinization. It is concluded that the plutonites did not remain closed systems after emplacement and that the whole-rock data represent mixed ages, whereas the biotite data may record the time of microclinization. The minimum age of primary crystallization is 2.25–0.10 • 109y and the maximum time since the resetting of biotite is 1.85 + 0.035 • 109y. The microcline data are anomalous. Routine statistical treatment of such Rb-Sr data does not yield the ages of primary intrusion. Criteria for the recognition of rejuvenation in the Rb-Sr data are discussed, and geological comparisons with other areas in Sweden and Finland are made.

The authors have tried to establish and describe the highest shore line in Törnevik, southern Östergötland. Morphological studies, field investigations of the limit of wave-washing, and granulometric analyses of samples from eight localities around Törnevik have been carried out.

摘要:
The genusHyperchilarina— hitherto known only from North America — is fairly common in the Ordovician of Europe. A detailed description is given from published and new material. The most remarkable feature of the genus — the adventral row of spines on the smaller left valve — is considered as a homologon of the velum of the Palaeocopa. The hypothesis is stated that the main adventral structures of the Palaeocopa — the velum and the marginal structure — were originally structures of the contact margin, and an evolution model is given.Hyperchilarinais possibly identical withAparchites. It seems that at least both belong to one family. The Aparchitacea are considered as a new sub-order (Leiocopa) on their own, beside the Palaeocopa, because of the missing antral and cruminal dimorphism and the original features ofHyperchilarina. In the course of the description, three new species are established.

摘要:
The finite-element method of analysis is described, and its use in solving finite-deformation and stress problems is demonstrated. A plane-stress analysis of boudinage structure suggests explanations of the barrel shape of boudins and the deposition of mobile chemical elements between boudins. A study of the change in the fold geometry of laterally compressed layers shows that simultaneous, finite buckling and layer-shortening is a plausible explanation of the formation of similar folds. An application of the method to the growth of diapirs of finite size in a two-layer system illustrates theoretically the shapes and normal stress distributions in diapirs at different stages of growth.

摘要:
In the Sommen-Åsunden region on the north-eastern border of the southern Swedish uplands, the glaciofluvial deposits and the highest coastline have been examined. The glacial deposits indicate that vast areas of stagnant ice were formed in the joint-valley landscape during the deglaciation. It is suggested that this region is a key area for the interpretation of the deglaciation in the southern Swedish uplands.

A distinctive new species, referable toDalmanitina (Dalmanitina), is described from probable Ashgillian rocks in Victoria (Australia). This is the first described species of the subgenus from the southern hemisphere. It is shown that the Zeliszkellinae, to which members of this group have been assigned, contains forms with two basically different thoracic types and it is suggested that these should be given greater weight than in existing classifications.

The Vätö granite of the Roslagen district, NE. of Stockholm, has hitherto been regarded as an intra-orogenic intrusive. From field studies and new chemical data, it is concluded that the Vätö granite is identical with the synkinematic granite of the region. The Sr content of the granite increases with the vicinity to ultra-basic massifs. Whole-rock analyses indicate a positive correlation between Ca and Sr but a negative correlation between K and Sr, in agreement with observations made by Hall (1967) and Lundqvist (1968).

Chemical analyses of clays, shales and slates from different parts of the world and from different sedimentological environments have been collected, together with analyses of the most common minerals found in these sediments. It is shown how these chemical compositions are distributed within a triangular diagram with the following molecular numbers in the corners: FeO (total iron)+MgO, Al2O3and K2O + Na2O + CaO (does not include calcium present as carbonate). The most important factor influencing the composition of the sediments is weathering, while grain size has a relatively small effect. The influence of source rock is only noticeable as regards the most unweathered materials.
