摘要:
PANGUA, E., PRADA, C, PAJARON, S.&SALVO, E., 1992.A newAspleniutnhybrid from Valencia (Spain) related toA. majoricumLitard. A new diploidAspleniumhybrid, found in the Iberian Peninsula (Valencia, Benifairo de Valldigna), is described and the nameAspleniumxprotomajoricumproposed. The plants exhibitc.72Iat meiosis. The cytology and morphology of the hybrid and its occurrence between the assumed parentals suggest that it originated from a cross betweenA. fontanumandA. petrarchaesubsp.bivalens.The occurrence ofA. petrarchaesubsp.bivalensin eastern Spain is confirmed cytologically. The occurrence ofA. majoricumon the mainland is also discussed.

CORNER, E. J. H., 1992.The pachychalaza in dictoyledons: primitive or advanced?Reasons for regarding pachychalazy as an advanced seed character are restated and found to disagree with the recent postulate of von Teichman&van Wyk that pachychalazy is primitive for the dicotyledonous seed.

摘要:
PIRES, M. J., 1992.Report on a remote swampy rock savanna, at the mid‐Jari river basin, Lower Amazon. A wet rock‐savanna habitat occurs in the Jari Ecological Station (IBAMA) in the mid‐Jari basin, NW State of Pará, between the rivers Jari and Parü. The vegetation is classified in Portuguese as a ‘campina rupestre’. It is characterized mainly by herbs and low shrubs, very few grasses and no trees. The plant community is a mixture of hydrophytes, xerophytes and amphibious plants, with several parasites and even a carnivorousDrosera.Such an assemblage is caused by the presence of water‐filled pockets and canalets made by the differential erosion of the rock substrate, and the very dry exposed rock. Comparison of the plant species found in the Jari Eological Station savanna with others found in Amazon and Guiana showed many species in common and possible vicariants. The stress caused by this type of habitat favours the process of plant speciation. Evidence presented supports the idea of a floristic relationship between this area and the Gui

摘要:
STÖCKLIN, J., 1992.Differences in the location of subcotyledonary buds amongEpilobium angustifoliumL.,E. dodonaeiVill. andE. fleischeriHochst. (Onagraceae) and effects on architecture and population structure. Morphological and architectural features in the two closely related pioneer plant speciesEpilobium dodonaeiandE. fleischeriare examined in cultivation and in the field and compared withE. angustifolium.InE. angustifolium, the aerial shoot system is renewed every year from buds on horizontal roots and results in a horizontal spread and a clonal growth form. InE. dodonaei, bud formation is restricted to the hypocotyl and in larger plants to the transitional region between root and shoot. Consequently this species shows no vegetative mobility and develops a shrub‐like habit. The alpineE. fleischericombines the habit ofE. angustifoliumandE. dodonaeiand may either develop successive generations of shoots from the transitional region between root and shoot and/or exploit new areas by horizontal roots and the formation of shoots from root buds. The simple difference in the location of renewal buds is accentuated by cumulative growth. The study shows thatE. dodonaeiandE. fleischeri, which often are considered as subspecies, are separated by fundamental differences in their architectural models. The ecological and demographic implications of these differences are discuss

摘要:
VINCENT, P. L. D.&GETLIFFE, F. M., 1992.Elucidative studies on the generic concept ofSenecio(Asteraceae). This paper presents the results of studies of the generic conceptof Senecio sensu stricto. The sample of taxa studied consisted of 93 Natal senecios (including seven varieties and two forms), five Cape heterochromous senecios and nine non‐southern African senecios, including the type of the genus,S. vulgarisL. Also included in the study were six species from taxonomically closely related genera in the tribe Senecioneae and oneSenecioof uncertain taxonomic position. The phenotype of these taxa was investigated with respect to a large number (122) of morphological and micromorphological characters. Six characters were selected as being taxonomically important with respect to elucidating the generic concept ofSenecio sensu stricto. The generic concept ofSeneciohas been provisionally re‐circumscribed and the generic status of each of the senecios and non‐senecios studied has been tested according to this concept ofSenecio sensu stricto sensuVincent. In the light of this concept ofSenecio, the following species are recommended for exclusion fromSenecio sensu stricto sensuVincent:S. cissampelinus, S. transvaalensis, S. syringifoliusandS. hockii. The following species are considered to be peripheral toSenecio sensu stricto sensuVincent:S. tanacetopsis, S. seminiveus, S. medley‐woodii, S. tamoides, S. helminthioides, S. barbertonicus, S. brevilorus, S. viminalis, S. radicansandS.fulgens.Before any taxonomic changes are made to the current compositionof Senecio, the conceptof Senecio sensu stricto sensuVincent, is being tested on a worldwide sample of th
