摘要:
Subtribe Hyoseridinae is a heterogeneous, predominantly Mediterranean, group of nine genera containing about 47 species. Pollen morphology and exine stratification are found to be useful in clarifying the relationships between the genera and subtribes. Echinate and echinolophate pollen types with four patterns of exine stratification occur in this subtribe. Pollen of the genusKoelpiniareveals a close affinity toTragopogonin subtribe Scorzonerinae. An affinity is suggested between the isolated, thistle‐likeScolymus(subtribe Scolyminae) and certain members of the Hyoseridinae. Evidence is presented of a relationship between the three generaArnoseris, HispidellaandTolpisand members of subtribe Crepidinae, notablyAndryalandHieracium. The palynological studies support the most recent proposals concerning the classification of the Hyoseridina

摘要:
Dry weathered wood (lignum and arid bark support a discomycete flora which is taxonomically extremely diverse and contains a high percentage of species with characters not found in Discomycetes of more mesic habitats. A large proportion of filiform‐spored, and all muriform‐spored non‐lichenized Discomycetes occur in this habitat. Most lignicolous Discomycetes have either a pigmented epithecium or a dark margin which covers the hymenium when dry and many have reviving, gelaious ascomata. Their asci often have a simplified structure difficult to interpret. Weathered wood is a niche which has long continuity in geologic time but is relatively unfavorable for fungi because of exposure, aridity and low nutrient levels. Strong selective pressure has consequently been exerted on those fungi able to colonize it, resulting in a high incidence of convergent evol

摘要:
The genusAstrosphaeriellaSydow has been regarded as a synonym ofMicrotheliaKörber in recent surveys of bitunicate pyrenomycetes. The structure of the ascomata and the presence of trabeculate pseudoparaphyses show that it belongs to the series of melanommataceous pyrenomycetes and is unrelated to the pleosporaceous taxa commonly referred toMicrothelia. All taxa which have been referred toAstrosphaeriella, Astrotheca, orAsterothecaare revised and four species accepted:A. aosimensisHino&Katumoto,A. stellata(Pat.) Sacc.,A. trochus(Penzig&Sacc.) D. Hawksw. andA. venezuelensisBarr&D. Hawksw. As circumscribed here, the genus is exclusively tropical, comprising species characteristically occurring on petioles of palms and bamboo culms. Notes on excluded taxa are provided and the new combinationMycomicrothelia inaequalis(Fabre) D. Hawksw. is made

摘要:
A study has been made of five species of the genusAmaranthus(SectionBlitopsis) which, though cosmopolitan, are predominantly tropical.Amaranthus tricolor, A. lividusandA. graecizanshave cultivated as well as wild forms butA. viridisandA. albusare not cultivated. All are monoecious and self‐compatible and exhibit both cross‐ and self‐pollination. Cytologicallv the species are uniformly diploid with x = 16 or x = 17, the latter being more common. The complex chromosomal associations observed at meiosis in the dibasic interspecific hybrids make it difficult to unambiguously pin‐point the ancestral number. Cultivated species have a relatively lower chiasma frequency compared with the wild species. An inherent heterozygosity resulting from repeated cycles of hybridization and selection in cultivation may be responsible for this be

摘要:
The primary vascular elements originate in the procambia of the single carpel and three stamens of the floret independently and in isolation from the vascular system of the spikelet. The initiation of protophloem elements is earlier in the stamens than in the carpel. The median strand of the carpel differentiates before the two lateral strands. The protoxylem elements are initiated after the protophloem elements are welt differentiated. The differentiation of both protophloem and protoxylem elements is bidirectional in the stamens and in the three strands of the carpel, whereas their differentiation is acropetal in the funicular strand of the carpel.

摘要:
This is a criticism of Dahlgren's recent classification of angiosperms (1980) and his basic diagram of angiosperm phylogeny. The first is shown to include unnatural orders and super‐orders; the second is accordingly as questionable. Basic factors for phylogenetic taxonomy in the angiosperms are considered. Leptocauly leads to parallel evolution and specific multiplication. Nomenclatural artifices for taxonomic equivalence are exposed; the name ‘pseudon’ is suggested for a conjectural

摘要:
A commentary is given on the criticism of Dahlgren's recent classification of angiosperms by Corner (Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 82:81–87 (1981)). In his dissatisfaction with the current, (almost) generally accepted nomenclatural concepts he has chosen to use my classification as a target. It is agreed that nomenclature is not ‘fair’ to plant groups playing the most important role in building up the biosphere, and that nomenclatural constructions do not reflect the consideration given to various parts of the plant. Corner does not seem to be familiar with the fact that his so‐called ‘pseudons’ are common to all current systems of classification, nor that the termination ‘‐florae’ has been used by Thorne (1968) and in a number of publications since. This suffix does not imply that the botanists using it neglect vegetative characters, nor characters from fruits and seeds. Other misunderstandings are also pointed out. In no case has it been satisfactorily demonstrated by Corner that my orders or superorders are unnatural entities (even though a number of them
