摘要:
AbstractScanning electron microscopy was used to aid the study of the physical relationships between n+n stage ofCronartium ribicolaand its alternate host,Ribes hudsonianumvar.petiolare, and to examine the morphology of certain fungus structures. Germ tubes penetratedRibesleaves through stomates exclusively. Formation of appressoria over stomates were also observed. Intercellular leaf spaces were more than adequate to accommodate the intercellular mycelium. The intercellular hyphae and germ tubes were attached to adjacent host cell surfaces. Haustoria were found to be consistently saccate and shown to characterize the n+n stage ofC. ribicola.

摘要:
AbstractTechniques of plant disease assessment appropriate For measuring forest tree diseases are considered taking cognizance of the heterogenous and structural complexities of the forest. Strategies proposed for disease management in forest reserves and plantations of developing countries are as follows: direct assay of plant pathogens on sites for plantation establishment, aerial surveys of large and extensive plantations in combination with ground sample surveys and disease predictions using climate and biological data.

摘要:
AbstractMLO in spiked sandal, spikedZizyphus, Dodonaeaand other hosts are closely related enough to be called strains; field evidence suggests adaptation of the organism before infecting each other while serological evidence indicates close similarities. Associated hosts are therefore important in the control of spike disease in sandal due to the transmission of disease from diseased associated hosts to sandal within a period of time. Spike disease which was confined to sandal forests of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has now spread to Kerala State lor the first time in 1980.

摘要:
AbstractThe process of compartmentalization, including the formation of barrier zones, localized discolored and decayed wood in roots of balsam fir, red spruce, eastern hemlock, white pine, and tamarack. The decay was caused byArmillaria mellea(Vahl. ex Fr.) Quel. and unidentified hymenomycetes. The most effective “walls” to decay were composed of resin ducts and parenchyma cells. Cylindrical patterns of decay formed due to tangential bands of resin ducts and parenchyma. In response to injury, conifer roots increase production of parenchyma cells which accumulate polyhenols. Three types of parenchyma may be produced: that associated with resin ducts, xylem rays, and tangential rings of cells resembling marginal parench

摘要:
AbstractRegeneration of thin roots of spruce (Picea abies Karst.) and invasion of them by fungi present in the soil. 266 roots of spruce were severed 35–150 cm from the base of the tree; the diameter of the roots at the cut ends was 0.3–3 cm. Either replacement roots were formed and hyphae mainly ofAscomyceteswere found in the original roots only near the cut ends or no new roots were formed and the ascomycetous hyphae had invaded Further. Formation of replacement roots was lower on calcareous soils. At and before the Front of the hyphae a brown substance occurred in the tracheids.Odontia bicolorhad invaded the roots of a few trees on the calcareous soil,Fomes annosuswas found in only one thin root. ‐ Roots with a diameter larger than 3 cm at the cut ends were invaded byFomes annosus, and no new roots were f
