摘要:
AbstractThe origin and the main characters of French isolates of Hypoxylon mammatum (Wahl.) Miller. The geographical distribution and the historical origin of aspen canker in France are described and discussed.Isolates are variable in both qualitative (pigmentation, sporulation) and quantitative (temperature requirements, growth) characters. The fungus is able to decompose wood and shows cellulytic activity in vitro.

摘要:
AbstractGreat differences in peroxidase activity were found in pine needles of 58 families, growing in two experimental areas at differing distances from the Zinc Metallurgical Works. Such differences reduce the diagnostic value of p.a., and may be important in the selection of Scots pine.

AbstractContribution to the knowledge of the etiology of beech bark disease. I. The health of French beech forests. Role of Nectria coccinea. Beech bark disease has occurred in France since 1968. Observations and experiments support the concept of a specific, functional and complementary association ofCryptococcus fagisugaLind. andNectria coccinea(Pers. ex Fries) Fries causing death of the bark.

AbstractA needle blight disease caused by a speciesCercosporawas observed prevalent in Luzon and Mindanao islands of the Philippines. The disease was observed onPinus kesiya, P. merkusiiandP. caribaea. The causal organism was identified asCercospora pini‐densifloraeHori et Nambu through studies on the morphological characteristics and pathogenicity. This is the first report on the fungus from the Philippines, andPinus kesiyais recorded as a new host for the fungu

摘要:
AbstractThe optimum conditions for growth ofRhizosphaera kalkhoffiiisolated from dead needles of Norway spruce trees affected by “top‐dying” were studied. The optimum temperature for diameter growth on malt extract, diamalt and potato dextrose agar was found to be 18°C and the fungus practically ceased growth at 24°C. Growth at 0°C was better than that at 24°C. Light had no effect on diameter growth on malt extract and diamalt agar. On malt extract agar, acidity ranging from 3.7–6.8 (after autoelaving) had no significant effect on diameter growth. Abundant pleurogenous blastospores were produced rapidly on malt extract and pycnidia as the culture aged. Pycnidia were the main sporulation type on d

摘要:
AbstractDirect and indirect evidence related to “top‐dying” of Norway spruce is presented along with theoretical considerations to construct a hypothesis explaining the cause of the disease. It is thought that “top‐dying” is primarily caused by severe water stress created by adverse climatic conditions chiefly mild, windy weather during the dormant period reinforced by drought in the first part of the growing season. When such conditions occur for more than two consecutive years severe outbreaks of the disease

摘要:
AbstractSusceptibility of young poplar shoots to Marssonina brunnea (Ell. et Ev.) P. Magn.On shoots of various poplar clones, numbers of pustules were recorded in field susceptibility tests forMarssonina brunnea. Levels of infection in shoots do not necessarily reflect those of leaves. On shoots, the bases where early defoliation occurred are the parts most severely attacked.

摘要:
AbtractBeech bark disease is an often lethal malady ofFagus sylvaticaandF.grandifolia. Observations in North America and recent studies in Great Britain and France support the concept that the disease complex occurs when bark, infested by the scale insectCryptococcus fagi, is infected and killed by fungi of the genusNectria. Comparisons of the ecology of beech bark disease, borne out by recent investigations in North America, Great Britain, France and Germany, are presented.
