摘要:
A model to estimate the spectral transmittance of the atmospheric aerosol for wavelengths λ = 0 to 20 μm is presented. The model is suitable for use in small and medium size cities with important industrial and other anthropogenic emission sources. Individual size distributions and optical properties for each chemical component are assumed. Humidity effects are discussed. The parameters of the model are compared with the existing measurements and are found in close agreement.

摘要:
Based on a detailed spectral aerosol model (1), the total scattering and absorption broadband aerosol transmission functions are estimated. Using parameterization techniques, analytical expressions for the broadband aerosol transmission functions are obtained. The accuracy of the proposed expressions are verified with various tests. The proposed broadband aerosol transmission functions can be combined directly with the solar radiation models to predict accurately the direct beam, the diffuse and the total solar radiation at a given place.

A general computer simulation model, ψ, for predicting average hourly diffuse solar radiation, developed and tested for Amman, Jordan, is presented in this paper. This model is based on three simple components with a control function ψ that can be switched on ( ψ = 1) or off ( ψ = 0) or set at half way position between on and off ( ψ = 0.5), The three components which constitute the ψ model are a normal distribution, a half-sine wave, and a polynomial of the fourth degree. These are individually tested as separate models. It is determined that none of them is alone adequately acceptable for the tested data. It is found that for an error of 1% or less, the polynomial model - although it is the best of the three - represents the data for only 18 hours of the year or 10% of the time while the ψ model represents 53 hours or about 29% of the time. The acceptability of the three models increases with an increase of the upper limit of error. If the error is 10% or less the polynomial model represents the data for 92 hours or about 51% of the time of the year compared with 122 hours or about 68% of the time of the year representable by the ψ model. It is also shown that the ψ model can represent the data for up to 92.4% of the time if the two early morning and the two late afternoon hours are neglected.

摘要:
Monthly average daily global irradiations on various sloping surfaces, tilted towards the equator, are calculated for four locations in the Southern African region, from reported values of global and diffuse irradiation on a horizontal surface. The anisotropic model suggested by Hay (Canadian climate centre, Report No. 79-12, 1979) is used for obtaining daily irradiation on various tilted surfaces. Total annual irradiation values are also computed, for several inclinations, and optimum slopes corresponding to maximum incident energy are reported for winter, summer and annual collection. The optimum angles show some variations when compared with values reported in the literature.

摘要:
This is a theoretical investigation devoted to optically design a finite length V-trough collector considering multireflections, reflection in space and shading. From the optical analysis the optimum trough geometries were identified for maximum real acceptance. In addition, the thermal performance for a V-trough collector aligned east-west and tilted to any base angle was also studied. The actual solar data for Alexandria (Egypt) was considered as an illustrative example.

摘要:
This paper describes the design of a solar pond for delivering 54 m3/day of hot water at 60°C to a catering facility in Singapore. The design of the pond was carried out in two steps. First, the depths of different layers of the pond were determined by considering the maximum temperature of the storage zone and the useful energy gain. For the given load and the local meteorological conditions, the optimum depths of various layers of the pond were found as follows:

摘要:
In this communication, a thermal analysis of biogas systems has been presented in terms of the system and climatic parameters. The biogas systems of floating and fixed dome type have been analysed for higher production rate after integrating the digester with a panel of collector through a heat exchanger. A comparison of their performances, under similar climatic condition, has been carried out. The paper concludes that (i) there is no difference between the performance of the horizontal floating gas holder and fixed dome type biogas plant, and (ii) the performance of the vertical floating gas holder type biogas plant is better than the horizontal floating and fixed dome type biogas plant.
