摘要:
Four different signal-averaging methods for NDT of coarse grained materials based on the concept of synthetic aperture radar data processing are compared. Experiments with 1.8 MHz vertical longitudinal wave and 45° shear wave insoni-fication demonstrate that, the spatial RF-averaging with TOF-correction is the most powerful one.

摘要:
The inspection of Fast Breeder Test Reactor ( PBTR) fuel pin end plug welds by X-ray radiography presents certain problems in detecting extremely small defects in the weld zone because of the special geometry of the components. The use of a defect standard in addition to the conventional image quality indicators has been explored. Characterisation of the radiographs of standard defects and evaluation of typical defects from weld radiographs have been carried out using a scanning microdensitometer.

摘要:
We determine the attenuation constant of a single ultrasonic backscattered curve by convolution of the back-scattered signal with a gaussian of width D closely related to the structure of the interference pattern superimposed. The interference pattern is caused by incomplete phase cancellation of the scattered waves at the ensemble of polycrystals.

The metallurgical structure of austenitic weldments interacts in a complex manner with ultrasonic waves, resulting in ambiguity when interpreting reflections and at times in misinterpretation of defect positions. In this work, a technique is outlined which is used to demonstrate the existence of "false" indications, and suggestions are made into their nature.
