摘要:
AbstractThe spore output in several species of mosses has been estimated by direct count as well as by calculation on the basis of measurements of archesporial tissue. In consequence of a very regular structure and development of this tissue, the results obtained by the two methods agree reasonably. The spore output varies from less than twenty inArchidium alternifoliumto far in excess of 50 million inDawsonia lativaginata. An outline of the procedures is given and the ontogeny of the archesporial tissue is discussed.
