Abstract—The speaker deals first with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, what it is, and what it does. He then mentions the hazards created by dogs, not only on the road, but also in cars, pointing out the regulations involved. The speaker then emphasizes the part which members of the veterinary profession can play in approaching local authorities; where the need for action is clearly necessary so that not only legislation can be introduced, but that the dog‐owning public, by means of propaganda and education, can be made aware of the dangers created by their disregard of the elementary principles of accident prevention.Résumé—L'auteur traite d'abord de la Société Royale pour la Prévention des Accidents, sa structure et ses buts.

Abstract—Diagnosis of thoracic injuries must be prompt and be made without unduly disturbing the animal. The clinical signs are detected by inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation of the thorax.Radiographic examination is complementary to the physical examination. The severity and extent of trauma to the thorax may sometimes only be assessed by the response to treatment.Résumé—Le diagnostic des traumatismes thoraciques doit être établi rapidement et sans trop agiter l'animal.
Dr. Riser(Philadelphia, U.S.A.): Regarding the use of blood in America, the thing that probably is the most important is the availability of equipment. One manufacturer puts out vacuum bottles for children; these are very adequate and usually about the dosage that you would want to use in transfusing a dog. They are relatively cheap and the blood holds in them for up to 14 days and often 21 days. Occasionally we have animals that come into our hospitals to be destroyed; if they are healthy animals we can take blood from them, also many of the larger hospitals keep donors. In my own hospital we had for many years a boxer dog. We bled him about once every 2 weeks. It was interesting that this dog had never been anaesthetized and did not mind being bled at all, from the jugular vein. The greyhound is kept by many hospitals for this purpose and makes a very satisfactory donor.
