ABSTRACTThe eyes from four cats with GM1‐gangliosidosis with visceral involvement were examined by ophthalmoscopy, slit‐lamp, light and electron microscopy. The clinical signs of corneal opacity and small pale grey spots on the retina were found to correlate with polysaccharide storage in the endothelial cells and fibroblasts of the cornea, and glycolipid storage in the retinal ganglion cells. ABSTRACTProtein‐losing enteropathy in the Lundehund, a possible hereditary disease, characterized clinically by intermittent diarrhoea, vomiting, wasting, ascites and oedema, is described. Serum examinations revealed low values of protein and calcium.Post‐mortem changes consisted of thickened duodenal and jejunal mucosa with blunt, short, anastomosing villi and plasma cell infiltration. ABSTRACTDetails of reproductive activity among 168 breeding queens were obtained from a survey of specific information supplied by cat breeders. Puberty was reached, on average, at 9–10 months of age. The gestation period was calculated to average 65 days. Almost half the queens in the survey showed cyclic occurrence of oestrus throughout the year. Cycles were usually 21 days long. When a non‐breeding season was present it generally occurred between September and the end of January, its average duration being 4 months.
