摘要:
The colorimetric single channel system Autolab is described. The precision of volume delivery by the syringes and the precision and linearity of the photometer have been investigated. The carry-over and cross-contamination effects have been studied in general and measured for the sampler, the stirrers, and the photometer cell. The effectiveness of the incubation module has been studied and a sampling technique which makes it possible to adapt the system to water analysis with an essentially better sample/reagent ratio is described.

摘要:
In the potentiometric determination of stability constants, the information is very often obtained from titrations. Not only is each individual titration very lengthy because of the stabilization period for the electrode potentials and the great number of volume increments, but many such titrations are necessary to gather sufficient information. The prospect of performing such work manually offers little attraction for the investigator and increases the risk of introducing subjective criteria. Therefore the authors sought to develop semi-automatic systems with a high reproducibility for precision work without losing the advantage of the instant decision offered by manual work.

摘要:
Chemical applications of an inexpensive, versatile Digital Time Domain Conversion System are described, including examples of high-speed display of gas chromatographic and flame data and low-speed plotting of high-speed rapid scan data. The system's ability to interconvert slow and fast data increases flexibility of conventional readout devices which are often inherently limited to a certain speed domain. Concepts involved in the design of such systems are presented in such a manner that other researchers can construct a system to meet specific requirements at a minimum of cost.

摘要:
A system has been developed to process data generated by a high-resolution mass spectrometer using a small computer. The computer is dedicated to the instrument only during data acquisition and is otherwise available for a variety of computational tasks in a general mass spectrometry laboratory. The programs include those to acquire the data directly from the mass spectrometer and store them on the computer disk storage device (written in assembly language); those to reduce the data on the disk to a table of exact masses and intensities, including deconvolution of multiplets (written in FORTRAN IV); and those to determine possible empirical formulas and fragmentation sequences for a given series of exact masses (also in FORTRAN IV). All observed PFK peaks are used as reference masses in an advancing subregion techinque that gives improved mass measuring accuracy.

摘要:
A modification of the Aminco-Morrow stopped-flow apparatus for the measuring of fast chemical reactions is described. In this modification the usual spectrophotometric method of following the course of the reaction is replaced by conductivity measurements. For this purpose a microconductivity cell has been constructed and inserted in place of the quartz observation tube. This microconductivity cell serves as one arm of a fast response conductivity bridge, the output of which is monitored on an oscilloscope. The performance was checked and was found to be satisfactory for the investigation of rapid reactions.
