The first record of some fishes(Pimelodussp., Doradidae indet.,Hoplias malabaricusandSymbranchus marmoratus)and mammals (Caviacf.apereaandMyocastor coypus)in Santiago del Estero Province, Argentina, is described. It is also mentioned cf.Hoplosternum, Prochiloduscf.platensis(Teleostei), andHolochilus chacarius(Rodentia), vertebrates unknown in the area. The faunistic material came from an archaeological site occupiedca.1000–1200 AD.

The scale reading method was used to calculate present and back age ofB. australiscaptured monthly during a 19‐month period at Las Balsas, Rapel Reservoir Chile. Three age groups were determined: group I from 130 to 210 mm T.L., group II from 210 to 250 mm T.L. and group III from 250 to 280 mm T.L. The Von Bertalanffy model and Walford's method were used as a mathematical expression of growth. Growth equations are:

According to ecological developmental patterns in muricids summarized by Spight (1977),Chorus gigahteusshows an intermediate Veliconcha hatching type. Egg size, hatching size and embryonic source of food are similar to those reported forMurex trapa;this last species also possesses a Veliconcha hatching type. Field observations reveal thatCh. giganteusinhabits on shallow water sand bottoms as predicted by Spight for muricid species with a Veliconcha hatching type. Egg mass structure ofCh. giganteusand field observations suggest a communal spawning as previously observed in other muricids.

Tuberodesmus quadricannatus, a new chelodesmid milliped genus and species, is described from the lowland Amazon region of Colombia and Ecuador. It belongs to the tribe Trachelodesmini but is distinguished by the absence of sphaerogranulae from the legs and antennae, arrangement of dorsal tubercles into four longitudinal carinae, and location of the microsensilla on the fifth rather than the sixth antennomere. The species is the first trachelodesmine known outside the northern Andes of Colombia and Venezuela and represents a considerable range extension for the tribe.

Sarinda nigraPeckham and Peckham andSynemosyna myrmeciformis(Taczanowski) are recorded from Bolivia. A new species,Myrmarachne galianae, is described. All specimens are from the Mamore River region of Beni Department.
