摘要:
AbstractThis article reports the status of the international business education in the United States as of the 1990s and examines the differences between AACSB accredited and nonaccredited business schools regarding the various aspects of internationalization. The overall conclusions are that along all dimensions significant progress has been made regarding internationalization. Accredited schools have progressed further than nonaccredited schools. Nevertheless, many of the schools have not aimed very high or made major changes in structures, operations, incentives, or requirements of their college to accommodate internationalization. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons, Inc

摘要:
AbstractAs an instrument for intervention, import protection can be used to pursue both outward‐oriented and inward‐oriented trade policies. Although the negative consequence of inward‐oriented protection has been well documented, the impact of an outward‐oriented import protection policy remains largely unknown. This study investigates the impact of such a policy in the case of South Korea. Empirical data on Korea's import protection, export incentives, output growth, and export performance are compiled and tested in a supply side framework. The findings of this study suggest that the well‐documented import protection measure is an integral element of Korea's export‐oriented trade policy and that it will be in the self interest of Western business to respond strategically to such outward‐oriented protection measures. © 1995 John W

摘要:
AbstractThis study provides empirical evidence on the perceptions of business managers on pertinent environmental variables affected by government control in a newly industrializing country. We document that the majority of surveyed firms are aware of the effect of government control on their activities. Managers perceive that political, legal, technological, and economic environments are potent sources of uncertainty (or value enhancement) for their firms as a result of government control. Furthermore, some firm‐and industry‐specific characteristics were found to buttress managers' perceptions of the effects of government control on their environments. To optimize foreign investments, these findings suggest that expanding firms strategically approach their entry into such foreign markets. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons,

摘要:
AbstractThis study assesses the need for local support services for the families of expatriate employees working in foreign countries. One major finding is that the spouses of expatriate employees have significantly different attitudes toward the need for local services than do company management. Second, our results indicate that the country of origin has a significant effect on the spouses' assessment of the need for local support and assistance. As a result of these findings, we conclude that the existence of local support services may have a significant impact on the location decisions, success, and retention of international firms. © 1995 John Wiley&Sons, Inc
