摘要:
AbstractThe notion of experiential learning emphasizes the personal experience of the learner. In this article, I describe my approach to making learning a more personal experience for students on a conventional university course. I focus on modeling of behaviour and attitudes by the teacher, clear communication, attention to process, and collaboration in learning. Evaluation can be formative (to facilitate learning) or summative (for assessment). I describe a number of methods which I have used in the formative evaluation of experiential learning. In general, I try to maximize feedback to all participants (including myself) having first created an atmosphere where defences can be lowered and the feedback heard. Finally, I consider summative evaluation, which presents considerable, but not insuperable, difficulties.

摘要:
AbstractThe educational effectiveness of illustrations, visual‐based instructional media, programmed learning, computer assisted learning, audio‐tutorial instruction, organization of groups, and mastery learning strategies, are discussed. Attention is drawn to those aspects which produce educationally significant improvements in student performance. It is suggested that this research, which clearly indicates a variety of ways in which levels of attainment can be greatly enhanced, is being ignored in new curriculum developments. The author concludes that the improvements sought by educationists and politicians will not be achieved until the knowledge gained from many years of research is acted u

摘要:
AbstractNine case studies were conducted to evaluate the usefulness of a predictive text entry program within a classroom environment. The program, PAL, was found to be very successful in eight of the cases. For children with poor motor control, the key‐saving aspects speeded up text creation. Of even greater significance was the extent to which children with severe spelling problems were helped. They were able to produce much higher quality written work with a substantial reduction in the number of spelling errors. This provided great motivation for the children, and teaching staff commented on their improved confidence and attention span, as well as stimulation of language and vocabulary development. One of the children was on the verge of being classified as a non‐reader and, although progress was slow, a significant improvement in the child's work was obser

摘要:
AbstractIn this paper some of the implications of the exploitation of Artificial Intelligence techniques in the educational field are presented, and the evolution of the changing quality of interaction between student and teacher is illustrated. Such historical changes are presented as a consequence of the introduction of new technologies in education. Particular aspects of Intelligent Educational Systems are presented, pointing out the innovative features of such systems compared with traditional applications.

摘要:
AbstractThis article centres on the educational requirement of encouraging the development of decision‐making skills, with particular reference to selection between alternatives. It reports the results of a protocol study in which subjects were asked to make a decision of the type described. These results, as well as information taken from the decision‐making literature, are used as a basis for defining the requirements of an Intelligent Educational System designed to encourage externalisation and reflection on decision processes and on the current decision. The architecture of the proposed system is outlined, and the current state of implementation described brie
