AbstractThe status of health effect information and regulations are summarized. The point source emissions and hazards involved in the use of formaldehyde in the histopathology laboratory are also summarized. Control techniques to reduce these risks are outlined. The discussion centers around epidemiology and laboratory monitoring studies to assess the potential risk of formaldehyde and estimate the necessary engineering controls.

摘要:
AbstractA 20% w/v solution of iodine in acetone provides a specific stain for demonstrating varying mineral density in 100-micron sections of mineralized bone. The section is immersed in the solution for 30 minutes at room temperature and subsequently rinsed in acetone to remove any excessive surface stain. The procedure is simple, rapid, and provides an economical method for studying variation in mineral density of osteons.

摘要:
AbstractAmyloid and beta cell granules were demonstrated simultaneously in glycol methacrylate sections of pancreatic tissue. The method involved the use of the aldehyde fuchsin technique of Mowry to color beta cell granules purple, and the use of the Alcian blue technique of Lendrum to color amyloid turquoise. Solution preparations and staining procedures were easily adapted from existing paraffin techniques.
