摘要:
The reaction of C60with poly(ethylene glycol) having a terminal primary amino group or a mixture of ethylene diamine and poly(ethylene glycol) having terminal carboxyl groups resulted in formation of water-soluble C60conjugates. These conjugates showed strong cytotoxicity to L929 cells upon visible light irradiation as a result of superoxide production.

摘要:
We calculate the vibrational densities of states (VDOS) for the two kinds of carbon nanotubes (armchair- and zigzag-type), using the recursion method and compare them with that for a single layer of graphite. The results show that the VDOS for the carbon nanotubes have more peaks than that for the graphene layer, but retain the strong peaks corresponded to those of the graphene layer. And the spectrums of the two kinds of nanotubes contain some feature peaks independent of the diameter.

摘要:
The synthesis of radiolabeled C60/C70for potential biochemical tracer studies was carried out. Vaporization under plasma are conditions (˜3000C) of graphite rods impregnated with the14C labeled steroid progesterone generates the expected C60/C70mixture. Isolation and characterization of the14C-C60is reported. Interestingly, the C70had more radioactivity than the C60.

摘要:
A contact are and adiabatic expansion hybrid reactor has been utilized to provide a controlled cooling process of gaseous carbon species capable of attaining very high velocities. Both vaporization and annealing temperatures and annealing time were found to be impartant for the formation of fullerenes. Immediate rapid quenching of gaseous carbon resulted in the reduction of fullerene yields. However, rapid quenching was demonstrated to improve the fullerene yield by preserving the as-grown fullerenes in the high temperature annealing process.

Diels-Alder reaction of 4-amino-o-quinodimethane (6) with [60]fullerene (1) affords the thermally stable and chemically reactive adduct7(n). The nucleophilic amino group of7(n) is well suited for the covalent attachment of different molecules to the [60]fullerene core by further chemical reactions.

The origin of the ultraviolet (UV) interstellar dust absorption is still uncertain. We have studied the shape dependance of the UV absorption of spherical and cylindrical (tubular) single- and. We shown that these materials are possible interstellar carriers of the UV band.
