摘要:
AbstractThis paper is based on a study of the centuries‐long controversy over female ejaculation. Culture and language tend to obscure knowledge that the human female has a prostate gland and is capable of ejaculation. Despite this existing scientific knowledge, contemporary research on female sexuality presupposes that women do not ejaculate. Nevertheless, current findings establish that more similarities than differences exist between men and women in coital responses. To the known homologues in adult urogenital anatomy are added female and male prostates. Studies of the female prostate (urethral glands) report marked variation from woman to woman in the extent and size of these glandular structures. The more recent clinical literature is oriented towards anatomy and pathology, whereas de Graaf's seventeenth‐century treatise documents not only the anatomy of the female prostate, but also the discharge of prostatic fluid from the female urethra described as a cause of pleasure. How denial of this phenomenon came about is traced to semantic confusion over the word“semen”in relation to the Aristotelian controversy concerning the procreative function of female fluids. This study concludes that women can ejaculate, and that the female prostatic fluid discharged through the urethra is a component of female sexual fluids that contribute to erotic pleasure.

摘要:
AbstractThirteen men were interviewed and data collected relevant to their experiences of multiple orgasmic responses during sexual arousal before or without an ejaculatory response. One subject was monitored on a polygraph and his physiological response to sexual arousal clearly showed three orgasmic responses prior to ejaculation. The preliminary results from this study indicated that there can be conscious control and therefore separation of the orgasmic and ejaculatory reactions in men.

摘要:
AbstractFifty married and 50 cohabitating couples responded to a questionnaire containing 14 sex history and 10 present sex behavior variables. Significant differences between the samples were found on 6 of the 24 variables. Cohabiting males and females had been involved with more sexual partners, were less satisfied with their sexual experiences, were more likely to have been involved in group sex, and were more likely to seek an abortion than were married males and females. Cohabiting females were younger at the time of first intercourse, and cohabiting males were less satisfied with their initial intercourse experience. With the exception of the above, the results did not indicate that cohabitors are less traditional or more nonconformist than married in their sex history or present sexual activity within their relationship.

摘要:
AbstractA sample of 46 private practitioners in psychiatry, psychology, social work, and marriage and family counseling practicing in Hawaii responded to an anonymous questionnaire designed to elicit their attitudes toward and use of the following techniques with clients: nonerotic contact, explicit sexual contact, sexual intercourse with clients, and partner surrogates. Sexual problems were found to be widespread among the clinicians' clientele. Results indicated some approval and no use of sexual intercourse, and majority approval and no use of partner surrogates. Nonerotic and explicit sexual contact were approved of by a majority and used by many of the therapists. A significant relationship between belief in the usefulness of these latter two techniques and several demographic and professional variables was found. The therapists also described the conditions under which they would make use, or make more use of, these techniques.

摘要:
AbstractEver since the publication of Radclyffe Hall'sThe Well of Lonelinessin 1928, social scientists have speculated on its autobiographical aspects. The thesis of this article is that Hall adapted her characterizations and storyline from the work of Richard Von Krafft‐Ebing. The uncanny similarity between Stephen Gordon and Count Sandor in terms of their physical attributes, their personal histories, and the sequence of events could hardly be coincidental.

摘要:
AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine if a stereotypic view of nurses as sexually permissive received support in the sexual attitudes reported by nurses. On the basis of the“kernel of truth”theory of prejudice it was predicted that nurses would be significantly more permissive in their sexual attitudes than a comparable group of university students. Using a Likert‐type attitude scale constructed for the study, 30 female nurses were compared with 30 female university students on the attitude dimension of sexual permissiveness. Item analysis of the scale revealed high internal consistency. No significant difference was found between nurses and the comparison group.
