摘要:
A pattern common to marital breakdown and divorce is described in which one partner seeks closeness and reassurance while the other desires separateness and independence. The roots ofthese dynamics in the spouses' families of origin are discussed. One partner is seen as having been rejected or abandoned as a child, while the other was intruded upon or engulfed by the parents. The polarized pattern which later develops in marriage serves the purposes of identity definition, intimacy regulation, and defense against covert anxieties. Recommendations for family therapy are treated briefly.

摘要:
This paper describes some of the characteristics of relationship patterns established by partners with one depressed member. Depressive dyadic and triadic relationships are characterized by repetitive and patterned verbal and non‐verbal behavior which is designated as “microcycling”. A distinction is made between the psychotic and neurotic types. The personality characteristics of the “caretakers” are described. The psychodynamics of depressive dyadic relationships involves reaction formation against hidden mutual hostilities and a struggle for power. The triadic relationship secures a third party involvement to maintain a balance in the dyadic pair. Depressive dyadic and triadic relationships inhibit personal growth and fixate the individual at an early stage of psychosexual development. Treatment approaches include therapy of the partners' relationship and of the individual's pathological

摘要:
This article describes brief therapy using a structural approach. During the course of therapy the encopretic behavior of a pre‐adolescent boy was observed in relation to the interactionand structure of the family system. The presenting problem was analyzed as a sign of family dysfunction and of the stress consequent to the parents separation. The success of the therapy didnot consist only of the disappearance of the encopretic behavior, but also in the discovery of different modalities of relating which produced a liberating effect on the identified patient and on other members of the famil

摘要:
This paper encourages the combination of behavioral and family therapeutic techniques within the family context. The approach discussed is most helpful during the beginning to intermediate stages of family therapy and serves to provide the therapist with the necessary leverage to allow for effective intervention and change. Three case histories are presented to illustrate the techniques discussed

摘要:
No therapist can come in contact with and treat children with minimal brain damage or specific learning disabilities without being struck by the fact that there are numerous intertwined factors that have contributed to and continue to perpetuate the problems. In addition to the helping approaches which have been utilized in recent years, such as tutoring, special education, and child therapy, this article elaborates the importance of utilizing family therapy as the treatment of choice sometime during the course of treating the child and helping the parents to understand and deal with their handicapped youngster.

摘要:
Family therapy is primarily focused upon interpersonal or transactional issues. Its major contributions have been in the development of communication analysis, communication opening techniques, and in illuminating group responsibility in the creation of an identified patient. Work with individual or subsystem boundaries has received far less attention. Gestalt therapy is particularly well suited for short term work on intrapersonal and boundary issues (Hatcher and Himelstein, 1976). The focus of this paper is to show how the selective integration of the two approaches provides a significant, new dimension in the development of family therapy.

摘要:
Psychotherapists are forced to face the troubling fact of their ineffectiveness. Part of the sense of uselessness arises out of going face‐to‐ face with family systems. Another part is based in the therapist's theoretical orientation. Two methods for breaking out of this double paralysis are described. Both methods are illustrated with clinical examp

摘要:
Drug addiction is a potentially life‐threatening problem with suicidal ramifications. Within the family of the addict, the addiction takes on a special, participatory meaning; the addicted member is treated as one undergoing a slow death. These families attach special significance to death and give it considerable emphasis. This appears to arise from unresolved and premature deaths experienced by the family, particularly the parents. The addict is substituted for the deceased member. Treatment can deal with these issues directly through making the mourning explicit. The death issue can also serve as a vehicle for family chang
