摘要:
Changes during the last 10 years in milk production, milk assembly, and milk processing capacity are discussed. The effects of Irelantd's joining the EEC in 1973 on the development of the dairy industry are outlined. The rapid growth of the industry between 1973 and 1978 is contrasted with the decline in farm incomes in 1979 and 1980. Changes in farm investment, source of financing, and area of expenditure are presented. The potential for expansion of the industry and the role of reseprch in achieving this expansion are discussed.

While the role and constitution of the Milk Marketing Board may dgfer in some respects from that of other producer co‐operatives, there is little doubt that it is a producer‐controlled and financed body acting like a co‐operative. The possible reasons for the Boards emergence and its history in four phases are discussed. 摘要:
The positional distributions of fatty acids in triglycerides from cows' milk, cows' milk enriched in linoleic acid by dietary means, and two commercial infant formulae fortified with vegetable fats have been determined for comparison with human milk. The results are discussed in terms of the digestibility of the fats and of the requirements of the human infant for linoleic acid.

The effect of raw milk quality on product quality is discussed in explaining the reasons for quality payment schemes. In October 1982 the Milk Marketing Board of England and Wales will centralise its testing for the quality payment of its 43,000 dairy farmers in six laboratories. The sampling, sample identification, sample transport, testing, recording, and reporting systems which are being developed for use are described.
