摘要:
The present document attempts to anylize the plant biotechnology situation in Eastern European Countries. Existing limitations, and new developments made in the practical applications of modem plant biotechnology in most Eastern European countries have been discussed. Recommendations have been made to create a Plant Biotechnology Network for these countries, in order to promote the implementation of biotechnological tools, enhance communication among scientists, and coordinate efforts in order to improve the scientific development in this area. Particular emphasis has been put on FAO's role in providing assistance to facilitate the creation of the Network.

摘要:
The effect of Phytophthora parasitica Dast var. nicotianae (Breda de Haan) Tucker (Ppn) race 0 culture filtrate (CF) on direct organogenesis of tobacco stem explants was evaluated using five tobacco haploid lines, which were selected based on their field reaction to Ppn (race 0). The culture filtrate used in different concentrations in MS medium suppressed bud formation from stem explants of susceptible tobacco cultivars more than those from resistant tobacco cultivars. The lowest concentration of CF (2%) stimulated bud formation in tobacco stem explants from both susceptible and resistant cultivars compared to the controls without CF. Ten percent CF is suitable for srceening in vitro Ppn resistance of tobacco cultivars at stem explants level. The slection scheme for resistance to Ppn CF and for increased resistance to Ppn was established.

摘要:
The study has been carried out to determine the possibilities for micropropagation of two raspberry varieties. Apical and axilary buds (1.0 - 2.0 mm) on active-growing, one-year shoots have been used as initial explants. Appropriate conditions for sterilization of the plant material have been fixed and two nutrient media have been tested. Medium V1was found to be more appropriate. The initial development of the explants and their multiplication were achieved on MS medium + 1 mg/l VAP. Well-developed shoots after multiplication were rooted on 1/2 MS medium + 0.5 mg/l IBA.

摘要:
Two winter wheat (Tr.aestivwn L.) lines 8–61 and 148–133–14 were used in this study. Callus culture and gamma-ray treatment were combined for inducing new initial breeding material. As a result of the present investigation three lines with increased spike length were developed from 8–61 regenerants. For 148–133–14 regenerants a new form with a higher spike length and number of spikelets per spike was obtained. The generation of new forms depends both of gamma-ray treatment and genotype specificity.

摘要:
Protein changes in roots of winter wheat were investigated on the 3rd and 8th day after a rapid temperature shift-down from 25°C to 4°C. Proteins were labelled during the last 12 hours before harvesting using L-[l4C] aminoacid mixture and were analysed by scintillation counting, one- and two dimensional gel electrophoresis and fluorography. The total uptake of the label was about 10 times lower in the treated plants of both series. A prominent band with molecular mass of 43±3 kDa and an isoelectric point between pH 6.8–7.4 was observed on the 3rd day after treatment. The obtained results suggest a transient expression of the 43 kDa protein (s) and may be an indication for its involvement in the development of the cold stress response.
