摘要:
ABSTRACTExfoliatin, an exotoxin produced by phage group 2 staphylococci, was separated and was analyzed. The toxin was separated in a single peak by Sephadex G‐100 gel filtration and subsequent DEAE Sephadex chromatography. By acrylamide gel disc electrophoresis this single peak was found to contain 2 components both of which posessed exfoliative activity and the same antigenic properties. Their molecular weight, however, differed; the major component had a molecular weight of 30,000 and the minor component had 27,000. The toxin was stable when heated at 60°C for 40 minutes, and labile at 100°C for 20 minutes.The toxin was immunogenic to mice and produced antibody Which could be transmitted to neonatal mice to neutralize exfoliative activity of the toxin. Innoculation of the bacteria caused the production of antibodies against both exfoliatin and α‐hemolysin in mice. ABSTRACTA patient, having been treated by total cystectomy and Bricker's conduit operation for prostatic duct carcinoma with intraepithelial extension into the prostatic urethra and bladder, developed an annular, psoriasiform eruption around the external orifice of the urethra two and one‐half years later. A biopsy of this lesion showed pagetoid changes of the epidermis. Microscopic examination of the surgical specimen, consisting of the glans penis and corpus spongiosum, demonstrated intraepithelial‐tumor permeation into the glans penis, penile urethra, and periurethral glands (Littre). ABSTRACTThe relationship between the titer of pemphigus antibody and the clinical course of the disease was investigated in 15 patients with various types of pemphigus.Although antibody titers generally ran parallel to fluctuations of the clinical course, the elevation of antibody titer appeared to follow the re‐appearance or exacerbation of the lesions on 10 occasions in 6 patients, while it appeared to precede the latter only on 2 occasions in 2 patients. In addition, the disappearance of the antibody was considerably delayed after disappearance of skin lesions in 2 cases. ABSTRACTIn order to elucidate the immunological mechanism in the pathogenesis of pityriasis rosea, immunofluorescent studies were performed on sera obtained from forty patients with this disease. Antibodies against the cytoplasm of normal human epidermal cells were demonstrated in the sera of all patients. The antibody titer showed a tendency to increase within 3 weeks after onset of secondary eruptions and then to decrease gradually until the period of recovery. The immunoglobulin class was determined to be IgM. Furthermore, by the direct immunofluorescent technique, deposits of IgM in the epidermal cells of skin lesions were demonstrated in 3 of 6 herald lesions and in 1 of 4 secondary eruptions.It is suggested that anti‐cytoplasmic antibodies produced by some unknown cause may induce the development of secondary eruptions of this diseas
