摘要:
Urinary incontinence is underestimated in occurrence, overemphasized in relation to gender and age, and lacks clarity in terms of classification and treatment, This article provide a review of the literature concerning the concept of urinary incontinence, including a comprehensive description of the mechanisms involved in the physiology of continence and pathophysiology of Incontinence. The psychosocial and economic effects of urinary Incontinence are addressed, as well as urinary dysfunction in selected populations with cognitive or neurologic impairments.

摘要:
Urodynamios is defined as a set of test used to measure lower urinary tract function. For many health care professional, the term urodynamics is limited to complex techniques that requite sophisticated analog or computerized equipment capable of measuring flow, pressure, and electromyography. However, simple urodynamic techniques offer continence nurses and their patients a set of practical, safe, and Inexpensive methods for the evaluation of urinary Incontinence. This article provides specific Indications for simple urodynamic evaluation, with a detailed discussion of application and Interpretation of patient history, bladder records, pad tests, observation of urinary stream, postvoid residual measurement, and bedside cystometry with “eyeball” and manometer techniques.

摘要:
Urodynamics is the term used for a set of diagnostic tests that measure lower urinary tract function. A variety of tests may be performed, either alone or in combination. Cystometry is the method by which the pressure-volume relationship of the bladder is measured. It is the principal test used to measure bladder filling a storage function. This article discusses the Indications and contraindications for the urodynamlc evaluation of bladder filling, normal and abnormal findings, and Interpretation of findings. In addition, patient preparation, procedural techniques, electromyographlc activity during bladder filling and storage, and physiologic events and artifacts are addressed.

摘要:
Videourodynamic testing id the combination of complex, multichannel testing techniques with fluoroscoplc Imaging of the bladder. Because of the expense and expertise required for testing, vldeourodynamlcs Is reserved for complex voiding dysfunction that can not be adequately diagnosed by simpler, less expensive methods. This discussion will focus on three Indications tor vldeourodynamlcs: complex stress urinary Incontinence, bladder outlet obstruction, and the evaluation of hostile neurogenlc bladder dysfunction
