摘要:
AbstractThe ultrasonic examination of 6, 690 pregnant patients showed a greater number of multiple pregnancies than usually observed at delivery: 71 per cent of twin gestations diagnosed before 10 weeks were singletons when delivered.

摘要:
AbstractA case of choledochal cyst in a 17 month old child is described. The ultrasonographic findings were felt to be specific in this case since the dilated common bile duct was noted to enter directly into a large right upper quadrant cyst. The clinical history, ultrasonographic findings, and differential diagnostic features are discussed.

摘要:
AbstractFive cases of parotid gland masses were studied by ultrasound. Only retention cysts and true cysts of the parotid gland appear sonolucent at low and high gain settings. Benign and malignant tumor present as solid masses except for the Warthin's tumor which is sonolucent at lower gain settings but has a lattice of internal echoes at higher gain settings.

摘要:
AbstractThis study was designed to investigate the effects of acute left atrial hypertension on left atrial size. Twenty‐four patients with acute myocardial infarction were studied. The estimated mean left atrial pressure (LAm) was correlated with left atrial (LA) size obtained by echocardiography. The LAm was elevated (>12 mmHg) in 15 patients (Group I). The LA size was within normal limits in all but two patients who had minor increases. The LAm was normal in nine patients (Group II). The LA size was normal in each case. The LA size remained unchanged in those patients who had a stable LAm. We conclude that acute increases in LAm are not usually associated with LA enlargement beyond the upper limit of the normal rang

摘要:
AbstractIn two patients with bacterial endocarditis and apparent vegetations, the echocardiographic findings included thickening but normal excursion of the mitral leaflet and abnormal shaggy echoes superimposed on the mitral leaflet echogram. Both patients had had endocarditis several weeks before the study was performed. In both patients the abnormal echoes disappeared after antibiotic therapy. Whether or not the echocardiographic findings are specific to bacterial endocarditis must be determined by further studies. One patient had evidence of “immune complex disease” with vasculitis, hypocomplementemia, and renal failure which persisted for weeks after disappearance of vegetations on the echocardiogram. This sequence was unexpected, as a continued source of antigen for this reaction was not appar

摘要:
AbstractUltrasound imaging of congenital anomalies in utero is feasible. Fetal intracranial details of a posterior fossa cyst were demonstrated by sonography. To our knowledge, an ultrasonic antenatal diagnosis of a posterior fossa cyst has not yet been reported.

摘要:
AbstractCombined hypertrophic and membranous subvalvular aortic stenosis was detected by echocardiography. The diagnosis was established by the discovery of severe asymmetric septal hypertrophy, a membrane in the left ventricular outflow tract, narrowing of the left ventricular outflow tract, as well as high frequency fluttering and premature systolic closure of the aortic valve leaflets.

摘要:
AbstractAn unusual case of aortic root aneurysm with dissection is described. A large intimal tear allowed a flap of aortic tissue to sag into the lumen. The echocardiographic and angiographic findings simulated an aortic supravalvular membrane. Surgical replacement of the aortic valve and aortic root was successfully accomplished.
