摘要:
The batch crystallization processes which are described by partial differential equations of the population density function with appropriate conditions are analyzed. The key method asserts that the population density function can be expressed by a series of shifted Legendre polynomial functions. An effective method which employs a shifted Legendre integral transformation associated with its polynomial functions is applied to solve population balance equations. Making the transformation, the partial differential equation is converted to a series of ordinary differential equations of expansion coefficients. The expansion of the population balance function into shifted Legendre polynomial functions is discussed in detail. The proposed method is straightforward for digital computation and accurate. Illustrative examples are given and compared with the results obtained by the moments method.

摘要:
Block pulse functions are used to approximate bilinear systems. In parameter identification problems, a set of linear algebraic equations is obtained with the parameters as unknown variables. The formulation is much simpler than that from the Walsh functions. Least squares estimate is used to determine unknown parameters from the algebraic equations using input‐output data. Satisfactory results are obtained in the illustrative examples.

摘要:
A general GIC (Generalized‐Immittance Converter) section capable of realizing any second‐order biquadratic functions is described first. It employs at most three operational amplifiers and a few passive elements. Using this approach, a Universal Active Filter (UAF) building block has been obtained, and thus any filtering functions, such as lowpass (LP), highpass (HP), bandpass (BP), allpass (AP) and notch (N) functions, can be easily constructed. The resulting filter realizations are shown to have low active and passive sensitivity to element variations. The high‐frequency performance limitations imposed by the finite bandwidth of the operational amplifier have also been examined. The proposed scheme has been compared with that of the state‐variable realizations exhibited by Kerwin, Huelsman and Newcomb (KHN) and been found to offer several attractive features as compared to this realization. The design procedure is illustrated by a sixth‐order elliptic bandpass filter together with theoretical and experimental results. Furthermore, temperature tests reveal that these realizations are insensitive to temperature variations.

摘要:
A new method for analyzing linear time‐invariant delay systems without time partition is presented. The block‐pulse series expansion of a composite function is derived first. Using this result, the state equation of the delay system can be transformed into a set of algebraic equations. Then the solution of the delay system is obtained through solving these equations.
