摘要:
The fundamental solutions for boundary element analysis of torsionai problems of a cylindrical anisotropic medium are presented. The particular form of cylindrical anisotropy considered in this paper is the most general kind possible for axisymmetric torsion deformation. A suitable change of variables is suggested to reduce the governing equation to a simple form which is amenable to Hankel transforms. The explicit form of the fundamental solution for infinite space subjected to an axisymmetric ring of uniformly applied tangential forces is then derived. An existing solution for an isotropic medium is recovered. In addition, simple half‐space fundamental solutions for the torsion of a transversely isotropic medium are determined. The kernel functions obtained herein are readily implemented in the boundary element formulation of the axisymmetric torsionai problems.

摘要:
Progressive surface waves in elliptical channels are studied. For the special case of a circular channel, both, analytical and numerical solutions of the frequencies of longitudinal modes of progressive surface waves are considered first. The numerical solutions of the frequencies for various modes of waves propagated along the longitudinal axis of elliptical channels with various depths are solved. The frequencies obtained for elliptical channels are compared with those for rectangular channels and triangular channels for various depths. Also surface wave patterns and the free surface displacement are given for the first four longitudinal modes of progressive surface waves.

Measurements of mean velocity and turbulence intensity in various cross‐stream planes in a 90° square duct of 1.5 radius ratio for the Reynolds number of 4.7 × 104are presented. The bend was preceded by a short upstream tangent with air as flowing fluid. The technique used was laser‐Doppler velocimetry.

摘要:
For this study, a microcomputer‐controlled electrolyte electroreflec‐tance (EER) system has been set up. EER measurements are carried out on samples of Ga1‐xAlx, As alloys in the photon energy range of 1.4 to 4.2 eV at room temperature. TheE0, E0+?0, E1andE1+?1transitions have been determined as a function of alloy compositionx.The transition energies at critical points show quadratic dependence on the alloy composition, with the relationE(x)=a+bx+cx2.Based on this relation, the EER technique has been utilized to study the variations in composition across the surface of the sample. This technique is nondestructive and can readily be employed under atmospheric conditions at room temperature. This method is sensitive enough to determine the changes of composition?xwithin a range of\%with a spatial resolution of 150μm.

摘要:
Mandarin is a type of tone language, i. e., the tones are part of the phonemic make‐up of words (1). Basically, there are four tones in Mandarin. On the basis of the fact that the four individual tones in Mandarin have almost fixed patterns on their pitch variations, we have designed a real‐time, speaker‐independent pitch extraction and four‐tone recognition system for isolated Mandarin speech: The pitch periods are extracted from the zero‐crossing interval sequence of speech; and the recognition algorithm is derived from the analysis of pitch contours of the four tones.

This paper formulates a diagnosibility criterion to” determine the degree to which the fault diagnosis equationy=F(r) will be.solvable, given an “optimal” choice of test vectors. Since this criterion is a property of the circuit rather than the test algorithm, it can therefore be used as a design aid with which to choose test points and/or to aid in designing testable circuits.

This paper is to analyze the instability of plate structure subjected to in‐plane periodic forces. By using the finite element method, the regions of dynamic instability of beam, plate, plate with a hole, and stiffened plate are analyzed. These analyses can be used as a reference in the design of plate structure under dynamic forces.

摘要:
An iteration method is used to get the eigenvalues of the problem, namely, the laminar flow of power‐law fluids with viscous heat generation between parallel plates. An asymptotic solution for large eigenvalues is developed and it is further used as the initial guess in the iteration scheme for exact eigenvalues. The method used in this paper has the advantages of fast convergence and high accuracy. Also, the method can be applied to any value of the continuous exponentnin the power law without limitation.

摘要:
The modified Hermite polynomials series solution of a functional differential equation of scaled systems is obtained. The Hermite polynomials are modified from the conventional ones by using an additional parameter. In order to simplify the computational algorithm, the stretch operational matrix of the modified Hermite polynomials is introduced to solve such a functional differential equation. The key method is that the dependent variable is expressed by an infinite series of the modified Hermite polynomials. The expansion coefficients of the series are solved by the proposed effective computational algorithm, in which only one matrix inversion is required. An illustrative example is given. Very satisfactory computational results are obtained.

摘要:
A detection scheme is developed under the assumption that a true target‐generated acoustic signal is accompanied by a weak frequency‐shifted replica. Our analysis shows that the correlation between the signal and its corresponding frequency‐shifted replica is the decisive factor. Optimum filtering techniques and performance measures are discussed. In the cases where the signal spectrum and the spectra of its replicas are overlapping, it is found that the performance will decrease with increase of overlap. Depending on the shape of the spectra, such degradation may be drastic.
