摘要:
Pulegone is a monoterpene ketone with a refreshing odor reminescent of mint. This is the reason why pulegone-rich oils containing plants are often named in Turkish after mint. Six Labiatae genera(i.e., Acinos, Calamintha, Cyclotrichium, Mentha, MicromeriaandZiziphora)have been found to contain pulegone as a major constituent in their respective oils. This study covers the oil compositions of pulegone-rich Labiatae species growing wild in Turkey

摘要:
The oils from the umbel rays, stems, leaves, fruits and the whole aerial parts ofBupleurum gibraltariumLam. have been examined by means of GC/MS and retention indices. The dominant constituents in the oil from the whole aerial parts were found to be: α-pinene (5.9%), sabinene (9.2%), limonene (6.5%), 2,3,4-trimethylbenzaldehyde (17.2%), terpinen4-ol (5.1%),trans-chrysanthenyl acetate (4.7%), elemol (4.3%) and guaiol (5.3%). The major components of the umbel rays oil were: α-pinene (17.6%), sabinene (33.8%), limonene (7.3%), and 2,3,4-trimethyl-benzaldehyde (8.4%). The stem oil was characterized by the presence of α-pinene (6.0%), sabinene (21.8%), limonene (7.2%), 2,3,4-trimethylbenzaldehyde (10.7%), guaiol isomer (5.1%), elemol (5.5%) and guaiol (5.4%). The leaf oil had as main components α-pinene (130%), sabinene (50%) and limonene (10.0%), whereas in the oil from the fruits, α-pinene (42.7%), sabinene (28.3%), and limonene (9.0%) were found to be the most important ones

摘要:
The composition of olibanum oil produced by simultaneous distillation and extraction from material produced in Oman, Turkey and Israel was examined by GC and GC/MS. The main constituent of the Omani oil was α-pinene (56.6%), whereas the Turkish and Israeli oils were rich in octyl acetate (68.5% and 28.5%) and octanol (11.1% and 10.1%), respectively. From these results it was concluded that the taxonomic origin of Omani oil wasBoswellia frereanaBirdwood, while those of Turkish and Israeli origin wereB. carteriBirdwood. The antimicrobial activity of Omani olibanum was examined

摘要:
Various factors which influence solvent extraction efficiency of boronia flowers were examined. Factors included the duration and temperature of extraction, the volume of solvent and the number of washes used, the degree to which floral tissues were in contact with the solvent, and the sample size extracted. Extract yield (% of fresh flower weight) can be increased by 90% by rolling (squashing) frozen flowers prior to extraction. With this process the extraction of volatile compounds increased by 48%, particularly β-ionone which increases by 23% per gram of flower material extracted. The extraction of ethanol-soluble compounds is also improved by rolling the flowers, with 127% increases in yield of absolute per gram of flowers. Saturation of the solvent by extract components is not a limiting factor during extraction. Selective extraction of β-ionone occurs when low volumes of solvent are used (4 L of solvent per kg of flowers), producing extracts with enhanced organoleptic qualities. Increased extraction time during the first two of three or four washes increases the yield of extract. Longer extraction times for the whole extraction enhance the content of volatiles within, and the organoleptic qualities of the extract. Increasing the temperature from 4°-12°C increases the yield of volatile compounds and extract; above 12°C the yield of extract increases but the yield of volatile compounds declines. As a result of this research, precise recommendations can be made for extraction. In addition, different products can be produced by rolling flowers or using reduced solvent volumes

摘要:
Nopinone was synthesized from β-pinene by an oxidative system of a RuCl3NalO4-phase transfer catalyst in 89% yield. Using this oxidative system, α-fencho-camphorone and camphenilone were also synthesized from α-fenchene and camphene, in 75% and 78% yield, respectively

摘要:
The effect of iron absorption on yield and composition of the oil ofRosmarinus officinalisL. (Lamiaceae) growing in calcareous soil in the North of Sardinia is reported. The plant material was obtained from two different chemotypes ofR. officinaliswhose oils were rich in α-pinene (sample A) and 1,8-cineole (sample B) respectively. The effect of foliar iron sprays was investigated in irrigated and non-irrigated plants. During the period of the study, May-November 1995, iron absorption did not produce any significant increase in oil yield but appeared to cause a marked rise in verbenone concentration in the oil of irrigated plants. This is likely to be the result of intensified metabolic oxidative processes which convert α-pinene into verbenyl derivatives. The higher concentrations of verbenone inR. officinalisoil after iron treatment increase its value for the perfume industry

摘要:
Field studies on sprinkler fertigation with normal (NF) and water soluble (WSF) NPK fertilizers in geranium were conducted at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore with ten treatments replicated thrice over two years. Cumulative herbage yield of 51 and 53 t/ha in controls were increased (6l, 67 and 70 t and 61.71 and 74 t) with 50, 75 and 100% NF and WSF fertigation. Correspondingly, the oil yield also increased (62.5 and 62 kg to 72, 79 and 88 kg and 76, 87 and 90 kg). These improvements in yields were caused by better growth responses such as plant height and spread and the number of shoots. These growth improvements were influenced by greater uptake efficiencies of N (from 28–34%) and P (from 20–27%). Soil applied 100% NF with surface or sprinkler irrigation had 70 or 60 t herbage and 83 or 91 kg oil per hectare. Application of 75% WSF fertigation was similar to 100% NF soil application with surface irrigation on herbage and oil yields. A net profit of $3,014.50 (Rs. 0.15, 0.154 and 0.159 million) with fertigation at 100% WSF or NF and 100% soil application with sprinklers, respectively may be obtained

摘要:
The chemical composition ofMinthostachys verticillataoil from Argentina was studied. Forty-five compounds, accounting for 94.2% of the oil, were identified by GC and GC/MS analyses. The oil was characterized by a high amount of mono-terpenes (91.6%), of which 73.6% were represented by oxygenated compounds. Pulegone (37.8%) and menthone (29.2%) were the main constituents. A preliminar antibacterial screening was carried out, resulting in an inhibitory activity of the oil on four Gram (+) and Gram (-) bacterial strains
