摘要:
Abstract.Eight new species ofPsalitrusare described:P.besucheti, P.coccinelloides, P.decoratusandP.silvestrisfrom Southern India andP.loebli, P.mahanuwara, P.serendibensisandP.veddhafrom Sri Lanka. The twoPsalitrusknown previously from India,P.championiandP.fallax, are redescribed and lectotypes and paralectotypes are designated. For each species the aedeagus and female ectodermal genitalia are figured. For the first time among Hydrophiloidea species characters have been found in female ectodermal genitalia, thanks to staining with chlorazol black dye. The best biometric characters are selected by multiple‐discriminant analysis and an identification key is given. A list of the knownPsalitrusspecies is give

摘要:
Abstract. In the mediterranean region six whitefly species, all belonging to the genusAleuroviggianuslaccarino, occur on evergreen oaks. Four species are known only from the south of Europe:A.adrianaelaccarino,A.polymorphussp.n.,A.zonalussp.n. andA.graecussp.n., and two from Asia Minor:A.halperinlBink‐Moenen (1991) andA.adanaensissp.n. Although the pupal cases of these six species differ considerably from each other, they are nevertheless regarded as belonging to one genus because the adults hardly differ. For that reason the value of combining adult and pupal case characters in generic concepts is discussed briefly. The genus is characterized by the sensoria of the adult antenna, which are of a type not known to occur in other species. Descriptions are given of the pupal case of each species together with characteristics of the adults when available.Aleuroviggianus graecushas been added, although adults could not be obtained, as most of the features of its pupal case can be found in other species. A new generic definition based on pupal cases and adults, and a key to the pupal cases, are provide

摘要:
Abstract. The chironomid subfamily Aphroteniinae is revised for the Australian fauna. The larval‐based genusAnaphroteniaBrundin is synonymized withAphroteniellaBrundin, andAnaphrotenia lacustrisBrundin withAphroteniella filicomisBrundin, and all stages redescribed and illustrated. A second Australian species,Aphroteniella tenuicornisBrundin, has been reared and the larva is described and the pupa and male redescribed here.Paraphrotenia fasclpennisBrundin, previously known only from the Australian type locality, is reported from a second site. The pupa and previously unde‐scribed female adult are described and figured.AphroteniaBrundin, previously known only from Cape Province, South Africa, is recorded from Australia throughAphrotenia australiensis, newly described here and taking the authorship of Hergstrom. An unreared and unnamed larva ofAphroteniais described and figured.Aphrotenia, and thus the subfamily, can be dated through a vicariance paradigm substantiated by a Cretaceous fossil record, to a minimum of 120 m.y.b.p.Keys are given to larva, pupa and adults of the Australian Aphrotenii

摘要:
Abstract. The male ofThaumatoxena tragardhiSchmitz is described, thus solving the problem of the missing males of the Thaumatoxeninae. It, and other congeneric males from Africa, resembleHypoceridesSchmitz of the Phorinae. However, this genus is probably polyphyletic. Until a clearer picture emerges of the true monophyletic groups within the Phorinae, it is not possible to resolve the affinities of the Thaumatoxeninae further.

Abstract. An ovarian polytene chromosome map ofAnopheles mousinhoiis presented with a discussion of chromosome arm associations and X chromosome homologies with theAn.marshalliicomplex of species. Scanning electron microscopy of the previously undescribed egg shows marked similarities betweenAn.mousinhoiandAn.funestus.Major morphological differences betweenAn. mousinhoiand theAn. marshalliicomplex are described.Anopheles mousinhoiis recorded from South Africa for the first time.

Abstract.PamexisHagen, 1866, is revised.Myrmeleon luteumThunberg is designated as type species. A key is provided for the five species comprising the genus.Pamexis luteus(Thunberg, 1784),P.bifasciatus(Olivier, 1811) andP.contaminatus(Hagen, 1887) are redescribed:P.karooandP.namaquaare new species. All are endemic to the Cape Province of South Africa.

摘要:
Abstract. The morphological evidence on the monophyly of the subfamilies of the Pyralidaesensu strictois reviewed, and a phylogeny is proposed for the Pyralidae. New autapomorphies are proposed for the monophyly of the Phycitinae, Pyralinae and Epipaschiinae. The phylogenetic analysis supports a sister group relationship between the Phycitinae and Epipaschiinae, a sister group relationship of the Pyralinae to the phycitine + epipaschiine clade. The galleriines and chrysaugines occupy basally unresolved positions.
