摘要:
AbstractExamination of the chromosomes shows thatHelophorus grandisIll. is a species quite separate fromH.maritimusRey. Further investigation shows that while the karyotype ofH.grandisis the same in populations from southern England, northern and central France, and the northern half of Spain, that ofH.maritimusfrom the Camargue is sufficiently different from supposedmaritimusfrom central Spain for the Spanish specimens to be regarded as a separate species, here described asH.occidentalissp.n. Aedeagophores of the three species are figured, along with additionalmaritimus‐like material. No aedeagal or other morphological features for distinguishingmaritimusandOccidentalishave been discovered. The implications of the discovery of two species of anH.maritimuscomplex are discusse

摘要:
AbstractFour new taxa ofDeliasfrom the Solomon Islands are described. Two are races of a new species,D‐messalinasp.n., which may be closely related toD.nigrinaFabricius and is distributed over three islands. The nominotypical subspecies,D.m.messalinasubsp.n., occurs in Bougainville whileD.m.orientalissubsp.n. is found on Santa Ysabel and Guadalcanal. The other two,D.alberti guavasubsp.n. from Bougainville andD.alberti tetambasubsp.n. from Santa Ysabel, represent new subspecies ofD.albertiRothschld. Couplets for the inclusion of the new taxa in the standard key in Talbot are provided. In addition, a list of Solomon IslandsDeliasis given, together with brief distributional dat

摘要:
AbstractIn much of its rangePapilio glaucusL. has two forms of female, black and yellow, and the gene controlling the colour pattern is on the Y chromosome. Thus black mothers produce only black daughters and yellow mothers produce yellow daughters. Reasons are given to explain the occasional exceptions to this rule. The black female form mimicsBattus philenor(L.), and an autosomal mutant is described inP.glaucuswhich is paralleled by a similar aberration in the model ‐ a possible example of a model ‘escaping’ from a mimic and the mimic ‘catching up’ at one step.Sex mosaics are readily seen in the black form ofglaucusfemales and a numberare described from the Strecker collection. The probable cytogenetic constitution of these aberrations is discussed.Hybrids are described betweenglaucusand its near relatives,P.rutulusLucas,P.eurymedonLucas andP.multicaudatusKirby. These crosses produce mainly males but, by the use of ecdysterone, females have been obtained in the cross between the black female form ofglaucusand the male

摘要:
AbstractA key, synonymy, descriptions and distributions are given for twelve species ofCeratina (Euceratina), including three new species, C.maghrebensis, C.neocallosa, C.saundersi; two species ofCeratina (Ceratina, s.s.); and two species ofPithitis. A neotype is designated forC.callosaand lectotypes forC.callosa algeriensis, C.chalybea, C.cyanea imitatrix, C.decolorans, C.laevifrons moricei, C.mocsaryi and C.nigrolabiata. Ecology of bees in overwintering nests in Tunisia is discussed. Evidence is given for congeneric interference competition for nesting substrates and resource partitioning.C.dallatorreanais shown to reproduces probably entirely by thelytoky and thus is unique among Apoidea.

摘要:
AbstractA key is given to the world genera of the chalcidoid family Aphelinidae. Forty‐four genera are accepted as valid, including three described as new,Encarsiella(type‐speciesE.noyesisp.n.),Hirtaphelinus(type‐speciesH.smetanaisp.n.) andSamariola(type‐speciesS.camerounensissp.n.). The key is followed by a synopsis of the world genera, which includes: (1) citations of valid genera and their synonyms in chronological order; (2) total or approximate number of described species; (3) distribution in the six zoogeographical regions; (4) references mainly to major works and revisions; and (5) comments, especially on the new synonymies introduced in the present paper. The following new synonymies are proposed (the senior synonyms (valid names) are noted in parentheses):AleurodiphilusDeBach&Rose (EncarsiaFoerster);AneristusHoward,AtaneostigmaGirault,HeptacritusDe Santis (CoccophagusWestwood); Artas Howard (Pteroptrix Westwood);PlastocharellaGirault,TurmidiscapusGirault (CentrodoraFoerster);EncyrtophyscusBlanchard,PhysculusJasnosh,PhyscusHoward (CoccobiusRatzeburg);MesidiaFoerster (AphelinusDalman);ParanthemusGirault (CalesHoward);PrimaprospaltellaDeBach&LaSalle (CoccophagoidesGirault). The following genera are regarded as of doubtful position:MesopireneGirault,NeocalesRisbec,PaulianaphelinusRisbec andVereki

摘要:
AbstractThe ventral nerve cord of adult Chrysomeloidea exhibits variation in the degree of fusion of the meso‐and metathoracic ganglia. similar variation occurs also in the ganglia ofthe abdominal chain, and in the single or double connectives between them. In adult Chrysomeloidea (and Curculionoidea) there never seem to be more than five separate abdominalganglia, the first two being more or less fused to the metathoracic ganglion and the lasttwo more or lessconnate; the supposed primitive condition is retained in some Cerambycidae. Trends toward the fusion of aditional abdominal ganglia appear in several differentlines in Chrysomelidae (and in Cerambycidae), and in more than one line a conditiones is reached in which only the ganglion in the third abdominal segmetn remains free. Structures possibly representing ‘perisynmpathetic organs’ have been observed in a few of the seventy‐eight European and Indian species studied. systematic and phylogenetic conclusions are
