摘要:
Abstract.Eight new species of Clambidae from Sulawesi (Celebes), and two new species and a new subspecies from Borneo and Sumatra are described. The emerging distribution patterns reflect the long‐standing isolation of Sulawesi from the rest of the Sunda Islands and from the Asian continent. The clambid fauna of Borneo, Sumatra and the Malayan Peninsula indicates close faunal‐historic conta

摘要:
AbstractThe larval stages of the HawaiianDisenochus fractusSharp are described, representing the first comprehensive larval description for any species of native Hawaiian Carabidae. Based on cladistic analysis using eleven characters of first‐instar larvae for twenty‐two platynine carabid species representing ten genera,D.fractusis most closely related to the AsianPlatynus magnusBates. This result supports Zimmerman's hypothesis that the Hawaiian Platynini are of Asian derivation. Synapomorphies supporting this relationship include: (1) smooth keel‐like egg bursters, (2) serrate margins on the mandibular terebrum and retinacular tooth, and (3) translucent lunules apicad from urogomphal setae

摘要:
AbstractThe male and female ofLeptanilla japonicaBaroni Urbani are described. This is the first worker‐associated male to be discovered in subfamily Leptanillinae.Leptanilla taiwanensisis described as new based on the worker and female from Taiwan, the first record of Leptanillinae from the island. An ecological note on the food of the ants is given. Implications of the male morphology and taxonomic positions of the other leptanilline genera based on males are discusse

摘要:
AbstractThe tribe Palyadini Guenée is revised at the generic level. It includes about 115 described species, and occurs in tropical America with representatives from Florida to Argentina. There are six genera:PalyasGuenée,PhrygionisHübner,PityejaHerrich‐Schäffer,ArgyrotomeWarren,OpisthoxiaHübner, and a new genusOphthalmoblysis. OphthalmophoraGuenée andArgyroplutodesWarren are treated as junior synonyms ofOpisthoxia.Checklists of the species‐group names in each genus are

摘要:
AbstractInfestations of an undescribed gall midge species were discovered in Southern Sweden in biomass plantations and nurseries ofSalix viminalisL. Terminal leaf buds are damaged and side shoots subsequently develop. This midge,Dasineura ingerissp.n., closely resembles three other species occurring onSalix: D.terminalis(H. Loew) onS.albaL. andS.fragilisL.;D.iteobia(Kieffer) recorded fromS.capreaL. andS.cinereaL.; andD.schreiteri(Stelter) (= comb.n. forRabdophaga schreiteriStelter) originally found as an inquiline in the galls of another gall midge,Dasineura rosaria(H. Loew), onS.repensL. No qualitative differences in morphology were observed between these four gall midge species, but results of morphometric analyses show significant differences between all of them. In oviposition preference trials, which included host plants of all four midge species,D.ingerislaid eggs mainly onS. viminalis, D.schreiteripreferably onS.repens, andD.iteobiaexclusively onS.caprea.In larval performance trialsD.ingerisproduced many galls onS. viminalis, one gall also onS.caprea, but no galls on eitherS.albaorS.repens.
