摘要:
Abstract.Nine species ofElectrogenafrom thirty‐one populations were investigated on the basis of five meristic and five ratio characters of the larvae. The attribution of populations to species was checked by a cluster analysis based on the generalized distances between pairs. Groups representing species were then subjected to a multiple discriminant analysis; discriminant functions and loadings were calculated. The correct attribution of individuals to species by the discriminant functions ranged from 97% to 100%. The analysis of discriminant loadings shows which characters contribute more to the discrimination of species. Although many species could be identified with some confidence by a sequential monothetic key based on meristic and qualitative characters, the discriminant analysis improves the effectiveness of identification of all specie

摘要:
Abstract. The fruit fly genusCeratitis(Diptera: Tephritidae) comprises several important pest species attacking a wide range of unrelated fruits. In this paper the subgenusCeratitis(Pardalaspis) Bezzi is revised. Ten species are recognized of which five are described as new:C.(P.)hamatasp.n.,C.(P.)munroisp.n.,C.(P.)serratasp.n.,C.(P.)semipunctatasp.n. andC.(P.)zairensissp.n. A key to both sexes is provided. All species are restricted to the Afrotropical Region and distributional and known host plant data are given.

摘要:
Abstract.Tasphorura, a new genus of onychiurid Collembola, is erected for an unusually coloured species,Tasphorura vesiculatan.sp., found at a single locality in TasmanianNothofagusrainforest. Its isolated phyletic position is noted and extremely high densities are recorded. The conservation implications of the restricted distribution shown by this species, which is typical of many rainforest invertebrates, are discussed with reference to increasing utilization and fragmentation of these forests.

摘要:
Abstract.A new genus of the subfamily Entedoninae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Eulophidae),Perditomlus, is described. Male genitalia in species of this genus display extraordinary morphological differences to an extent which is unique in the Chalcidoidea, and the utility of this character and of male antenna in species identification is demonstrated. The value of male genitalia in chalcid systematics is discussed, and a possible reason for the exceptional development inPerditomlusis considered.Perditomlusincludes thirty‐three species, unless otherwise stated from Mexico:abruptus, angustatus, avirostris, bidenticulatus, bifidus, bilobus, calcaratus, crassiscapus, evanescens, falcispinus, faretus, flexilis, geniculates, grandiculus, hastatus, insternatus, languidiscapus, longiparameratus, magnicaulis, mucronatus, parameratulus, penicillatus(Mexico, U.S.A., Canada),pilosus, pinguiscapus(U.S.A.),planiscapus, porcodon, punctiscapus, sinuiscapus, trispinus. unispinus, verticillatus, woolleyi(Mexico, U.S.A.), andzolnerowichi. Perditomlusis considered most closely related toOmphaleHalida

摘要:
Abstract. The first data are presented on larvae, oviposition, and mating behaviour in the Eleticinae, the most primitive subfamily of Meloidae. Taxa studied include two African species ofElectica. Larval descriptions ofE.rubripennisandE.wahlbergiare presented, as well as observations of oviposition inE.rubripennisand of courtship leading to copulation inE.wahlbergi. The placement of eggs under bark and the absence of a triungulin larva in both species are unique for the family. They represent plesiotypic traits found in other groups of Tenebrionoidea.
