AbstractTheAslauga purpurascenscomplex is revised and six species are recognized:purpurascensHolland,marshalliButler (=purpurascens marginariaTalbot syn.n.),latifurcasp.n.,orientalissp.n.,atrophifurcasp.n. andaustralisspn. All species are described and illustrated and keys provided for their identification. Characters used in previous studies and in the present study are discussed and the literature is reviewed. The biology of the species is discussed with special reference to the appetitive sexual behaviour of adult males and to possible hostspecificity in larval predation of membracids and coccids. The significance of the geographical distribution of the species is examined.

AbstractCydnidae are defined as those Pentatomoidea with setal combs at the apices of the coxae and a strigil on the ventral surface of the metathoracic wing. Eight subfamilies are recognized: Thaumastellinae, Amnestinae, Cydninae, Scaptocorinae, Sehirinae, Garsauriinae, Thyreocorinae (including onlyThyreocoris, CarrabasandStrombosoma) and Corimelaeninae.Eumetopiais included in Corimelaeninae.Dismegistusis excluded from Cydnidae.

AbstractMultivariate analysis of morphological characters suggests that the genusStrophingiacomprises eight distinct species, namelyericae(Curtis) [the type‐species],australissp.n.,fallaxLog.,cinereaeHod.,proximasp.n.,hispanicaHod.&Hollis,hartenisp.n., andarboreaLog. Each species is fully characterized and an identification key is provided. A tentative phylogeny of the groups is proposed.
