摘要:
ABSTRACT.TheAnopheles marshalliigroup of mosquitoes consists of four chromosomally typed species of which three have already been described and named. The fourth chromosomal species, formally known as species E, is described here asAnopheles kosiensisfrom Kosi Bay, Zululand, South Africa. A photograph of the X chromosome is given. The taxonomic status ofAnopheles pitchfordi, a synonym ofmarshallii, is discussed.

ABSTRACT.Postoptica platypezoideagen.n., sp.n. from Sulawesi is described. It shows no obvious affinity with any known genus. Its superficially platypezid like appearance and other apparently plesiomorphic features are interpreted as secondary and convergent.

摘要:
ABSTRACT.Analysis of host plant data for the seventy‐one species ofDiaphorinashows the genus to be unusually polyphagous, the species developing on eighteen families of dicotyledonous angiosperms. Apart from the common Asian citrus pest,Diaphorina citri, a second citrus‐feeding species is described and discussed. This species belongs to theamoenaspecies‐group which is defined and a key to nine of the ten included species is given. Seven new species are described:flavipennissp.n. andnigripennissp.n. from East Africa onStrychnos usambarensis; huilasp.n. from Angola onPtaeroxylon obliquum; turnedsp.n., from South Africa (host unknown);orantiminasp.n. from Madagascar (host unknown);aubertisp.n. from Comoro Islands on citrus trees; andbispinulatasp.n. from Madagascar (host unk

摘要:
ABSTRACT..The relationships among the euglossine genera are examined. These genera form two natural groups,Exaerete+Euglossa, andEufriesea+(Eulaema+Aglae). Each genus is discussed separately giving generic synonymy, biological notes and a complete species list. In addition, a key to the genera is provided.

摘要:
ABSTRACT.The cave collembolanGulgastrura reticulosawas re‐examined from a systematic point of view, using data obtained from scanning electron microscopy and investigation of temperature tolerances and moulting cycles. Absences of the third antennal organ, postantennal organ, pseudocellus, eyes and furca were confirmed, along with the prominent development, by contrast, of an “apical organ” at the apex of the antenna. The intermoulting period was shown to be 110 days on average at 9.5°C which is almost twice as long as the longest known intermoulting period for a collembolan. These exceptional characteristics are suggestive of drastic divergence from existing family groups of Collembola. It is suggested that the erection of a new family, separate from the Hypogastruridae to whichGulgastrurawas assigned by the original author, may become appropriate some time in the future when evidence other than of morphology becomes available supporting this divergence.Gulgastrurais apparently limited to cave entrances, rendering the animal enigmatic in view of the usual occurrence of troglobites deep in
