摘要:
This study reports the development of a process for the validation of sets of outcome criteria. The process can be simply and inexpensively utilized at the unit level by staff nurses. It was tested by the investigators and did serve to differentiate between valid and invalid outcomes of nursing care.

摘要:
In a sequence of events described as the “cooling out” process, an administrative conflict snowballed to an irrevocable stage resulting in an employee's dismissal. Such scapegoating reduces friction in the organizational structure, but does not identify and resolve problems.

摘要:
The introduction of a clinical nurse specialist into a functioning patient care setting represents a major institutional change, and implementation of the role should involve all affected staff members. The authors describe how one nurse unilaterally negotiated her role using an exchange theory approach. They make recommendations to help nursing service administrators aid in role negotiation.

摘要:
The article describes three approaches to establishing an ambulatory audit program for nursing. These approaches are variations of a single methodology—that of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals—used by the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. The authors discuss three audit topics from ambulatory care; postkidney transplant; desensitization; and well child.

摘要:
There are similarities between the research process and problem-solving-evaluation mechanisms already in use in nursing service. The author describes the utility of each process and the rationale for implementing research in the nursing service setting. The nursing audit is recommended as the institutional mechanism for implementing and sustaining research activities.
