摘要:
The demand for fast techniques in the control of environmental pollution is rising at an ever-increasing rate. Flow injection analysis (FIA) can provide a simple, handy, and versatile tool to determine metal cations in seawater. Furthermore, the use of FIA techniques coupled with on-line sample preconcentration and matrix modification has recently attracted considerable research effort in attempts to control interference effects. Since the analytes reported in this paper are metal cations, the most common active agents used for sample preconcentration are chelating resins of different types. The combination of FIA with detection techniques, such as atomic spectroscopy (AS), for the determination of cationic species in the general context of seawater analysis is reviewed.

摘要:
Simultaneous determination of multiple components by the flow injection technique (MC FIA) of various configurations with a single detector (single or multichannel), or with several detectors in series or in parallel, is described. Exclusive instrumental modules, i.e., multifunctional valves, special detectors, and their combinations are also given. Special techniques employing liquid-liquid extraction, membrane separation, packed microcolumn reactors, immobilized enzyme reactors, etc. are discussed. The applicability of MC FIA in simultaneous determination and speciation of metal ions, inorganic anions, and organic compounds in diverse samples is also presented.

摘要:
Developments in UV/VIS spectrophotometry during the past decade are critically reviewed. Advances in instrumentation: sample handling, optical systems, detectors, and signal processing are discussed. The application of spectrophotometric detection in hydrodynamic systems is surveyed. Newer types of color systems employing macrocyclic compounds, porphyrines, surfactants, and basic dyes are evaluated. Separate sections are devoted to advances in spectrophotometric determination both of individual elements and organic compounds. Future trends in spectrophotometric analysis are discussed.
