摘要:
In order to provide information about the temperatures experienced by a bituminuous membrane on a multi-layered roof in Canberra, Australia, an array of 36 thermocouples was included in a prototype section of the construction, and monitored for a period of 110 days. The frequency distributions of temperatures over an eleven-year period were calculated for the surface, the bituminuous membrane, and the ceiling, considering the effects of air conditioning and insulation. Temperature hazard indexes for degradation of components at different localities can be derived, if the relevant climatic data are available.

摘要:
There is a growing concern in the community about solar access and overshadowing of public and private open space in urban areas as the density and the height of buildings increase. All methods of analysis require a knowledge of the relative position of the sun. This paper addresses the order of accuracy of this knowledge to highlight the limitations of its predictive power. Some graphical methods have been produced for nominal locations, e.g. 35degS and 150degE, but are applied to precise locations, e.g. the Central Business District of Sydney, Australia. When arguments relate to limited periods of the day, for example “lunch time”, the small differences between the real and nominal location could result in a proposed development application being denied.

摘要:
Full-scale field measurements under actual weather conditions are considered a realistic approach for the measurement of energy consumption and the assessment of building envelope performance. In this paper, a description of a simply constructed outdoor test chamber is presented; and the requirements for temperature, solar radiation, wind speed, and wind direction measurements are outlined. A simple experimental procedure for evaluating window energy consumption is described. Other aspects such as instrumentation, equipment, data measurements and recording are also addressed. Some of the field measurements obtained were compared with results from a transient three-dimensional heat transfer model and a good agreement was found.
