摘要:
A model of the Reichert Mk10A coal spiral has been developed. A Weibull survival function is used to describe the performance (Tromp) curve, and the cut specific gravity is calculated from the feed characteristics: solids feed rate, size distribution, and slurry concentration. Conclusions that can be drawn from the model, and its applications, are discussed.

摘要:
A mathematical programming procedure for smoothing coal washability data is presented. The procedure which is derived from classical optimisation theory generates a mathematical program which is solved to provide values of fractional mass and ash percent for a large number of narrow density intervals lying inside the coarser density intervals of the test data. The solution values are constrained to ensure their feasibility and to retain the attributes of the test data. The magnitudes of the narrow density intervals are selected so that the smoothed data can be used directly for data plotting, plant design, equipment performance prediction, optimisation of parallel streams, etc. This procedure offers advantages over the more generally used interpolation methods in that feasible results are guaranteed for ail feasible sets of test data. The paper demonstrates the principal advantage of the.mathematical programming procedure by comparing it with cubic spline interpolation for a set of real but difficult to model washability data.

摘要:
The oil-agglomeration process has been found to be a useful emerging technology for the beneficiation of finely ground difficult-to-wash coals and middlings. Conditioning is the most important unit operation prior to agglomeration or size enlargement. The performance of oil-agglomeration process is highly influenced by the design and process parameters of the conditioning system, in the present paper, attempts have been made to correlate the dimensionless groups of the conditioning system with the yield of agglomerates.

摘要:
The work defined the feasibility of using dissolved air flotation as a separation technique for coal floes produced from a coal slurry by selective flocculation. The dissolved air flotation experiments determined the optimum air to solids ratio, which was correlated with the solids content of the flocculated suspension.

摘要:
The problem of estimating the separation characteristics, including mass yield, partition curve, cut point (dp) probable error (Epand error area (Ap) from mass distributions of feed and products is considered. A graphical technique previously proposed is modified and extended to estimate the separation characteristics. It is demonstrated that the mass distributions of feed and products could be used to estimate the separation characteristics of the separator. Two-product and three-product separation cases are considered. The proposed techniques can handle both density and sin separation. Actual data are utilized to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

摘要:
Density tracers have come into wide spread use in Australian coal and mineral processing in the last decade. Their advantages over conventional methods for determination of gravity separator performance are speed of data acquisition and lower cost. A recent study on jigs has provided a data base which permits comparison of the precision with which partition curves can be established using conventional and tracer methods. This paper is concerned with the industrial and research uses of tracers and the statistical analysis of tracer and conventional sample data. Statistical methods for fitting partition curves to normal tracer data as well as a method for dealing with point counting data are presented. It is demonstrated, based on a case study of a Batac jig. that both conventional and tracer methods of separator evaluation provide similar levels of precision, particularly when dealing with coarse coal.

摘要:
Seven signals were accurately measured and data logged in exhaustive experiments using a highly instrumented and controlled pilot scale Baum jig. These signals provide a basis for understanding the effect of the operating parameters on the air and water behaviour in the jigging process. The measurements include the air pressure, water pressures and displacement, the hutch water flowrate. A Fourier decomposition method was applied to remove signal noise and smooth the signals. Water velocities and accelerations are calculated from the smoothed displacement data.
