AbstractA spectrophotometric study on dipicrylamine and sodium dipicrylaminate was carried out at 25°C and 30°C. The molar extinction coefficients at 350, 380 and 430 mμ for each species were given from which the actual concentrations of dipicrylamine and dipicrylaminate in buffers of variouspH, ranging from 3 to 5 or in conductivity water, were calculated.Kafor yellow dipicrylamine could be thus evaluated directly by combining with thepHvalues of the buffers. 摘要:
AbstractResults of a preliminary test for the polarographic reduction of titanium (IV) perchlorate, chloride and sulfo‐salicylate are reported. A single wave with half‐wave potentials ranging from −0.78 to −0.91 voltsvsS.C.E. in thepHrange 1.2‐2.1, is ascribed to the one‐electron irreversible reduction of titanium (IV) perchlorate and chloride complexes. Two waves have been observed in the c.v. curves of titanium (IV) sulfo‐salicylate in the presence of perchloric acid; the first with half‐wave potentials ranging from −0.37 to −0.41 voltsvsS.C.E. is attributable to the one‐electron reversible reduction of titanium (IV) sulfo‐salicylate, and the second at −0.93 volt to the irreversible reduction of titanium (IV) perchlorate. Four waves, denoted by I, II, III and IV, with half‐wave potentials of ca. −0.20, −0.56, −0.80 and −1.0 voltsvs. S.C.E. havebeenobserved in the c.v. curves of titanium (IV) subsalicylate in the presence of hydrochloric acid. Wave I is the prewave of sulfo‐salicylic acid, wave II is attributable to the one‐electron reversible reduction of titanium(IV)‐sulfo‐salicylate, wave III to the nearly reversible reduction of titanium (IV) chloride, and wave IV to the reduction

摘要:
AbstractThe dielectric constants, specific volumes and refractive indices ofn‐butanol,n‐hexanol andn‐decanol inn‐hexane solution have been measured at 25°C over a range of mole fraction from 0.01 to 0.08.The Kirkwood equation of dielectric polarisation of polar liquids has been applied to solutions of these alcohols. The dipole moments at infinite dilution μ∞the moments in the gaseous state μ* and the moments in solution μ have been thus determined. A hindering parametergwas also calculated for solutions of the three alcohols named above inn‐hexane. This parameter is a direct measure of the extent and nature of molecular association. That the deviation ofgfrom unity becomes less pronounced on going fromn‐butanol throughn‐hexanol ton‐decanol represents a decrease in the degree of hindered rotation with increasing chain length of alcohols.This was found in essential agreement with the tendency of variation of the slope in the P2‐x3curves. All the three alcohols exhibit negative deviation ofgfrom unity inn‐hexane solution, and the amount of deviation becomes greater with increasing mole fraction. These may be attributed to the association to polymeric alcohols in such a way as to screen their orientation from one another, leading to configurations with decreasingly smaller resultant moment with

摘要:
AbstractRaE (Bi210) and RaF (Polonium) present in complicated hot spring sediment, Hokutolite, was selectively separated and purified in the form of complex chloride anions with anion exchange resin. After the two anionic complexes had been adsorbed by the resin bed of the chloride form of Amberlite IRA‐400 and separated from most cations in the sediment, the column was then washed with 8N and 0.5Nhydrochloric acid to remove lead and iron that might form anionic chloride complexes and partly retained by the column, RaE and RaF thus freed from other impurities and still held by the resin column could be eluted separately with normal sulfuric acid and perchloric (1:1) acid respectively. Radiochemical purity of these activities were checked by the decay experiments and the results were quite satisfactor

AbstractSome fundamental studies were undertaken in order to get some insight into the process of post‐ripening of banana by studying the changes in carbohydrate metabolism and the changes in respiratory mechanism during the course of banana ripening.1.During the course of banana ripening, it is concluded that sucrose is synthesized first directly from starch and subsequently hydrolyzed into glucose and fructose in the post‐climacteric stage. In this process phosphorylase appears to be the main enzyme involved in the breakdown of starch.2.During the course of post‐ripening, water content of the flesh increases gradually. Soluble pectin increases four times in the climacteric stage, and then decreases. Tannin content remains unchanged.3.No peroxidase activity is detected through each stage of ripening, but considerable intensity of catalase activity is detected. The catalase activity in pre‐climacteric banana is stronger than that in the climacteric.4.The entire terminal oxidase of preclimacteric banana flesh is cyanide‐resistant, but as the climacteric stage reaches, one‐fifth of it becomes cyanide‐sensitive. Malonate poisoning appeares to occur to a very little extent.5.Citrate acts as a substrate toward the respiratory system of preclimacteric tissue, but as an inhibitor toward that of ripe banana. An interpretation is made on these effects of citrate.6.With the aid of the uncoupling agent, 2,4‐dinitrophenol, it is shown that the respiratory rate of the preclimacteric but not of the climacteric banana flesh is limited by the capacity of the phosphate transfer system. ATP‐ase develops during the course of ripening and appeares to be a factor which put forth the respiratory increase in the climacteric stage. 摘要:
AbstractDesoxyribonuleoprotein was isolated from the liver of hog and duck by Mirsky‐Pollister's procedure with some modifications. After refining the extract, a white gel‐like material was obtained. From this material histones and DNA together with non‐histone protein were isolated by treatment with acid followed by fractional precipitation. The histones were hydrolyzed and the hydrolyzate was analyzed by paper‐chromatographical method. In the hydrolyzate, the presence of 16 amino acids (asp., glu., gly., ala., val., leu., ileu., ser., the., met., pro., phe., tyr., his., lys., and arg.) was identified. Among these the presence of 8 amino acids (asp., gly., leu., pro., try., his., lys., and arg.) was proved by comparing their respectiveRfvalues with the authetic samples, while that of the remaining ones merely by noting their respectiveRfvalues.
