摘要:
AbstractThe photochemical reduction of U(VI) to U(IV) sulfate in the presence of α‐hydroxy iso‐butyric acid, accompanied with the decarboxylation and oxidation of the acid to acetone was observed. The reaction rate was found to be of the fourth order, or of the pseudo first‐order with respect to the U(VI) ion concentration in an excess of the acid by following spectrophotometrically the concentration of U(IV) ion produced. A fourth‐order rate equation has been

摘要:
AbstractThe polarographic behavior of a tridentate chelate compound of uranyl‐glutamate has been investigated over thepH range of 1.5 to 5.5.The first wave of one‐electron reduction and diffusion‐controlled reversible wave was applied through thispH. range. BelowpH 1.9 there was no chelation, and abovepH 5.5 turbidity ensued.AtpH 3.0 to 3.9 the diffusion current was independent ofpH value and the diffusion current constant was calculated to be 2.08. The proportionality between uranyl ion concentration and diffusion current held within the narrow range of 2.2 × 10−4Mto 3.3×10−3Mwith 1.9% average deviation of the mean.The chelate forms and electrode reactions identified from the half‐wave potential and diffusion current data were:\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \begin{array}{*{20}c} {p{\rm H}} \hfill & {4.4 - 5.5,} \hfill & {{\rm UO}_2 \left({\rm G} \right)_2 = + e = {\rm UO}_2 ^ + + 2{\rm G}^ =} \hfill \\ {p{\rm H}} \hfill & {3.0 - 4.4,} \hfill & {{\rm UO}_2 \left({{\rm HG}} \right)_2 + {\rm H}^ + + e = {\rm UO}_2 \left({{\rm HG}} \right) + {\rm H}_2 {\rm G}} \hfill \\ {p{\rm H}} \hfill & {< 1.9,} \hfill & {{\rm UO}_2 ^{+ +} + e = {\rm UO}_2 +} \hfill \\\end{array} $

摘要:
AbstractStability constants of titanium (IV), zirconium and thorium‐hinokitiolate chelates have been calculated from spectrophotometric data in 50% ethanol‐water solution at 25°. It has been found that the stability constant and the optimumpH of the various metal chelates increase with the increase in the atomic number of metals. The order of stability for the metals is the same as that found for other types of coordinating agents. Zirconium and thorium combine with four hinokitiolate ions, while titanium (IV) combines with only two hinokitiolate ions to form a chelate compound. A list of molar absorption coefficients is given and the photometric sensitivities of these metals with hinokitiol were determ

摘要:
AbstractCoulometric study was carried out according to Lingane to determine the number of electrons involved in the reduction of dipicrylaminate ion on the dropping mercury elctrode. Among the three waves shown in the previous paper, the second wave is most well defined. Therefore,n, number of electrons involved at this step was determined. From thenvalue determined in the present investigation, the mechanism of reduction of dipicrylaminate ion on the dropping mercury electrode was given. The polarographic diffusion coefficient was evaluated fromnand diffusion current constant by using Ilkovic equation.

摘要:
AbstractA study of the effects of organic solvents, acidity and the Concentration of thiocyanate on the effectiveness of the solvent extraction of thorium has been undertaken. It has been found that both cyclohexanol and a mixture of isoamyl alcohol and ethyl acetate were effective solvents, and the most favorable acidity for the extraction of thorium was atpH 4, and the extractability of thorium increased with increasing thiocyanate concentration, reached a maximum value when thiocyanate concentration was 3N, and then decreased slightly.

摘要:
AbstractDipicrylaminate can be determined bypH‐metric titration with strong mineral acids in aqueous solution. The end point is sharp if the concentration of dipicrylaminate exceeds 10−3M. The reaction consists of the replacement of metal ion by hydrogen ion.The solubility product, Ksp, and the dissociation constant, Kaof dipicrylamine were evaluated from the titration data.pH‐metric kinetic study of the recombination of dipicrylaminate ion with hydrogen ion was also carried out, from which the specific reaction rate constant was eva

摘要:
AbstractA method using gallein as indicator for the direct titration of bismuth with disodium salt of EDTA was devised. The titration was carried out in nitric acid. The optimumpH for the titration was found to be atpH. 1.3 to 2.3. The sharpest end point occurred at aroundpH 1.7.The end point was reached when the magenta color gave place to a pale yellow. The interference of approximately equimolar concentration of various foreign ions was studied.By the proposed method bismuth can be accurately titrated in the presence of a variety of both cations and anions including large amounts of lead ions.

摘要:
AbstractThe halogen‐lithium interconversion reaction betweenp‐bromophenyl‐cyclohexene‐1 and organolithium compounds was investigated. It resulted in the production ofp‐Δ1‐cyclohexenyl‐phenyllithium. The organolithium compounds used in the interconversion reaction were phenyllithium,n‐propyllithium andn‐butyllithium. They brought about 25%, 19% and 10% conversions based onp‐bromophenylcycloh
